This Year I'm Going To...

My resolutions for this year are to live, laugh and love. That's it.

Every year I make the same resolutions to find an agent, get published, lose weight, eat more healthily, etc. Then, the other day when I was sitting in my shed, I noticed this sign Rob bought me a few months ago.

I do spend a lot of time thinking about, planning, working on my writing. I do exercise, by walking the dog and sometimes by messing about on the Wii with my daughter; I eat well, but also eat chocolate and drink wine some evenings; I work hard at my job, but I love it. I don't have an agent and haven't yet seen my books in the shops, but apart from the few things I still hope for, I do have a great life.

So, instead of wanting more, this year my only resolutions (while I still work hard at my writing, of course) is to Live, Laugh, Love and make sure I enjoy every damn moment.

I think that's a great attitude. I've been berating myself for all the things I haven't achieved over the last TWO years but it doesn't help, does it? I have done things anyway, just not the things I thought or hoped they might be!

I think those resolutions are perfect.

Jenny - thanks. I always seem to be trying to keep up with all the aims that I set myself and tend to forget the things I do achieve. x

Fee - thanks. x

Debs, this shows an amazing amount of mental health :-)
Excellent resolution and one which I should take on board, too.

sue - thanks. Sometimes it's hard to stop and enjoy what we already have, especially when we're so busy trying to achieve so much.x

Sometimes the best things are the simplest. It sounds as if you're set for a good year. And you'll write because that is something writers can't help doing.

The older we get, the easier it is to let go of so many expectations and demands we make on ourselves. Going after perfection is unrealistic. Better to go by your rules to live, love, and laugh, Debs.

Now that's a great way of looking at life, Debs. I'd like to adopt it for myself as well.

And it does look to me like you are doing great. I think our goals are always with us any way. So Live Laugh Love seems to help get us through and take off the pressures we place on ourselves to do, do, do!

Thank you for being here and sharing who you are.

I think that's a lovely resolution to make. You sound really happy and contented and that's great.

Definitely a resolution that's worth keeping and one I'd like to make too.

Happy New Year to you and your family Debs! Great idea - how could anyone go without wine/chocolate? Recently I've decided that going for a long walk somewhere with nice scenery is so much more uplifting than going to the gym/ running etc. Hope to see you at an RNA event soon. X

I think that's a great way to begin 2012 and while you're not striving to achieve all those other things they may just happen anyway. Hope they do.

The only resolution worth having, Debs! Everything else will probably fall into place because of it.
