I was doing wonderfully well with my word count on Saturday and Sunday and was raring to go yesterday, until I decided to take a few minutes to start reading a new book. I picked up Liane's book, Cafe Au Lait and am loving it so much that I haven't written a word since. Her hero, Michael is to die for. I was thoroughly irritated that I had to return to work today, but now I'm back and once I've finished blogging, doing a bit of ironing (I wouldn't bother but it's clothes that are needed for tomorrow), I shall get right back to it again.
Did anyone watch Spooks last night? I thought it was excellent (as usual), but was horrified when Adam (the heavenly RPJ) was blown up. Noooooooooooooo! S-S#1 txt his father and asked, "Is D watching?" (He knows me too well). I knew RPJ would be going, but thought they'd give us a bit of time before he got the chop. Mind you, the ever perfect, Richard Armitage (wasn't he yummy on This Morning?) was fab as the complex Lucas North. I have to admit that not being one for patience, I then turned to BBC 3 and watched tonight's episode, which I shall no doubt watch again on terrestrial later (I admit I'm sad, so what) and then on again to BBC 3 for next weeks episode.
This morning, Grumpy was taken to the lady in the valley, who clips him and cuts his nails, to have his dewclaw cut (she forgot to do it last time and it needed a trim). Poor R drew the short straw (the only good thing about me having to go to work today) and had to take him. The entire procedure took seconds and R didn't leave Grumps at all, but apparently he was so excited to be leaving so soon and without the usual bath & blow dry. Poor thing, he doesn't realize his next appointment is in two weeks, when I'll have to take him and deal with the crying, shaking and hysteria, and that's just me!

I haven't seen Spooks. Did see Little Dorrit though - what didyou think of that or didnt you see it?
flowerpot - I did see it and I loved it. The best thing about winter are the programmes on tv and it looks like this year should be quite good, for once.
Awh poor Grumpy! Glad to hear you're enjoying Liane's book, I must read it.
Bless Grumpy's little heart xxx
Poor Adam!! I wasn't expecting that.
Looking forward to seeing how RA's character develops. Another treat tonight:-)
And poor Grumps. He's not the sort to like a bit of beauty pampering is he:-)
yvonne - I'm loving it, her hero is heavenly.
helenmh - thanks, he's such a wuss, bless him.
lane - I know! Such a shocker. I think RA is going to be even better than I thought (which is saying something).
Grumps is not so good at the pampering bit, unlike his mother who loves it.
I have to say that one of the things I am really looking forward to about moving back to the UK is decent TV programmes!! We do have BBC Entertainment here but there are only so many times you can watch repeats of Blackadder...
Poor Grumpy!! Chris and I did the cat's claws last night....It did not go well....I now look like I self harm!!

Caught up with Spooks on I-Player, and I must be the only one who thought that the plot and acting were...a little challenging.
RA plays a bloke who has just spent the last 8 yrs in russian prison - no. sorry. not convinced by anything he did or said, and the tatoos were taken from Viggo in Eastern Promises - but without the edge.
It is not often I am fast forwarding a program.
I know, I shall get the hate mail, but 'if it ain't on the page, it ain't on the stage' - the script was just not there for me.
On the other hand, many thanks for the recommendation for Cafe au Lait - I shall certainly look into it.
Hope it is not snowing on your new plants!
Happy writing.
carol - The winter programmes are rather good most years thankfully, mind you, we need them to be, to make up for the horrible weather.
Laughed re your description of beautifying the cat and damaging yourself. Ouch.
ray-anne - ooh, so harsh, although I could probably watch RA washing dishes and still be relatively appreciative. I agree about the tattoos though, not so good at all.
Finished Cafe Au Lait last night, loved it.
No snow here yet, doubt there will be as we usually only get it at the end of Feb, and then only every few years or so. Such a shame.
Aww, poor Grumpy! What cruel parents he's got *grin*.
Do you let his fur grow in winter?
I love and hate books that I can't put down. Love it because I'm completely sucked into that world and hate it because I can't get anything else done!
Maybe Grumps will have been tricked into forgetting about the shampoo and set stuff? But I sense that is probably a forlorn hope!
Hi Debs, just wanted to stop in to say hello. I hope all is well and you are getting your word count up there!
Debs, thank goodness I wasn't drinking anything when I came across here because I'd be short one keyboard right about now!
I am SO glad you liked it! I'm a bit in love with Michael myself! Thank you for the feedback - I tend to imagine people rolling their eyes, saying 'Not another romance!' and going ho-hum.
Will smother the guilt about your word count and hug myself while doing a little jig around the room!
Liane
Well it's hard to be happy for English blogger friends who get to see the lovely Mr. Armitage in a weekly series AND live interviews. I must see if Spooks can be had on Netflix.
I once had a chow mix, Frank, who went for the Academy Award for Suffering ever time he had to get nails clipped--he cried even before the clippers touched him. There's a sander type instrument being sold at pet stores now that's supposed to take all the drama out of nail trims. Have my doubts.
Hah! Your closing sentence made me laugh! I always try to book vet apts for when I am at work so that Chopper has to do the duty. Tsk, tsk. N3S is having a Halloween 'Disco' this afternoon so send me some 'pity thoughts' later please...
I missed Spooks - and now am glad I did! How could they do that to us?
Your closing sentence made me laugh, too. I've never seen 'Spooks' but I have read and enjoyed Liane's book.
Poor Grumpy! I have an appt next week for Twinkle to be possibly shaved! so dreading it as she goes beserk, but she looks so beautiful on top of her coat but underneath its huge knots galore! Hope you are well. x
I missed Spooks, but will try to catch up via I player. Really like Richard Armitage and think he would make an excellent Dr Who now DT has announced he is leaving next year!
Could be a move from MI6 to the TARDIS (Via Sherwood of course!!)

pat posner - I know, poor chap. In summer he's clipped every six weeks and in winter every eight and we leave his coat a little longer.
melissa marsh - and resent anyone or anything that interrupts the reading too, if you're like me.
chrish - it is, I'm afraid. He's such a pain.
kaye manro - the word count has not been so good during the week (so busy), but I'll be back on to it today.
wordtryst - I loved it and only hope that I can write such a wonderful hero (I can only try):)
faye - poor Frank - Academy Award for Suffering - that made me laugh so much. He sounds just like Grumpy.
dj kirkby - we have to try and get out of these horrible jobs sometimes.
I hope the disco went well and you survived.
leigh russell - I know! Too cruel!
zinnia cyclamen - I'm already completely in to Spooks and loving it.
Liane's book was lovely, I can't wait for her next one now.
motherx - poor Twinkle, and poor you. I think we suffer nearly as much as them when they get so upset about the whole thing.
mickmouse - what a brilliant idea, I shall have to blog about that, you never know, he could be the next Dr Who. Mind you, much as I love him (and I certainly do) I think David T will take some beating in the Dr department.x
