Camouflaged Shed, Great Raffle & Writing

Yesterday I received a Google Alert and so went to have a look to see what it was all about. This is what I found, isn't it fun? Today they've posted about beach huts, sigh, I've always yearned for one of those. To be honest I originally told R that I wanted a beach hut - er, but in the garden, so not really a beach hut - and after a few months of me swooning over pictures of them he suggested that I moved all my writing parapernalia into the shed. I think the thought of getting rid of all my paperwork and having some peace was too good an opportunity to miss.

Having read Paige's excellent post yesterday, encouraging us to do our bit for Sarah G's wonderful fund raising raffle, I thought I should play my part and mention it today. Sarah's raising funds for Kidney Research UK by running the London Marathon as her little daughter, Katie has one normal kidney and one Multicystic Dysplastic kidney. If you haven't already done so, please pop over and have a look at all the wonderful prizes she has collected and maybe make a donation to this thoroughly deserving cause.

Last night was quite productive on the writing front, I managed to get half way through Assignment 6, my word count on Sp&Sp has risen to over 41,000 and I'm half way through the short story for my first Slinkink entry. I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing with Slingink, as I know I've registered but don't remember paying, so will probably end up not being able to take part or something. I'm useless with rules of any kind and usually get something wrong when I try and follow them.

Ah well, my Writers' & Artists' Yearbook 2009 arrived today, so guess what I'll be doing tonight. Yay.

oooh happy reading. I've still not gone to get my copy yet. I must!

Congrats with the word count and assignment 6! I am also upto ass 6 on a course......ass 5 was completed years ago and I've been too busy to get any further! Thankfully there is no time limit on how long it takes!

That site is a real hoot! Love it!

I know what you mean about rules. They only need to be a tiny bit complicated to make me want to go and cry in a corner.

Wow, Debs, congrats on the word count. Starting at the beginning, again, makes me realise just how far I have to go...

I so love the W&AYB, not even the internet can take aways its pleasure x

Thanks so much for the mention Debs. It really means a lot. Thanks A LOT too for the donation on my Justgiving page for raffle tickets. I am hopefully going to receive them by end of week so will mail tickets to people who have online donated so they have them in their possession too.

Well done on the huge word count!! I like your shedworking feature. 2009 yearbook - aggh - now I'm all envious, I could just fancy having that to read with a cuppa and a choccie bar.

Thats a huge word count! Ive never managed that for a complete story. The one thats still with Louise was around 38,000...you put me to shame!

I never knew such a site like that existed! I had no idea that working in sheds was such a novel concept. I guess here in the States, a "shed" to me is classified as a dumpy, barely standing outbuilding that houses the lawnmower and the fertilizer and all of the "outdoor" stuff.

Great job on the word count!

mummy - I know, I'm thrilled with my copy and am going to sneak off to bed as soon as I can and start reading.

I've taken a year to get this far with the course and as there is a three year limit to completion and I still have 15 more assignments to do, I need to get a move on.

helenmh - I can read and re-read them and still get the most obvious things wrong.

l-plate - you're doing so well with your writing.

I love having the actual W&AYB in my hand and marking pages etc, wonderful.

sarah g - my pleasure, I think you're doing wonderfully well and am seriously impressed by anyone running a marathon.

katw - it was fun seeing the shed on that site.

I'd love a chocolate right now, but will have to settle for the cuppa by itself.

motherx - I don't put you to shame at all, maybe I just waffle on rather more than most.

melissa marsh - I didnt know it existed either. I have to agree that I always thought sheds were for lawn mowers and old tins of paint etc until I moved into mine.

devon ellington - thanks, I shall endeavour to do so.

I only found out that Morse's first name was, Endeavour last night whilst watching the crime writers' awards on tv.

Great word count, Debs.

I often go on the Writers' Market website but there's something 'special' about reading/browsing the W&AYB in bed and circling likely places to send mss.

Brilliant, you are being so productive with your writing, Debs - Well done you!

I love the term 'Slinkink' it rolls off the tongue so nicely! I will not go look at the beach hut site, otherwise I will want one of those too!

chrish - I think the colder weather keeping me inside more certainly helps my productivity. Loving the W&AYB too, spent hours circling and crossing out.

mickmouse - hello there, thanks v much, it is nice seeing it go up.

dj kirkby - it is a lovely term, isn't it? I know, I don't need more distractions either, it's hard enough to keep up with what I do already.
