Happy Birthday, Happy Halloween & Quantum of Solace
I'd like to wish my good friend, Andrea, a very Happy Birthday. I hope you have a lovely day and that the Divine Miss M behaves herself.
Happy Halloween to everyone.
When the children were smaller, I used to spend the week leading up to Halloween preparing witches and ghosts outfits, decorating the house, carving pumpkins, and getting ready for the party we inevitably had. This year, it will be a case of settling down in front of the fire, whilst making notes on novel 3 before finishing any redrafts.
Last night, R, S-S#4, J, S and self dressed up (boys in their DJs, looking very dapper) to go to the Charity Premiere of Quantum of Solace at the New Forum in Jersey. Here's a pic of the invitation.
An Aston Martin was parked by the front doors and incredibly strong Martinis served as you walked in. After chatting with friends, we all took to our seats, and given warnings that the security guards from Sony would be wearing night vision glasses to ensure that no-one taped or filmed any part of the film, and anyone caught doing so would be instantly removed from the building.
Needless to say we all behaved impeccibly, the film was as action-packed as it should be, and Daniel Craig was excellent. Looking at the stunts, it isn't surprising that the poor chap has had to have an operation on his shoulder. Judy Dench was superb as M - I loved the picture of her 007 pink diamante tattoo that she wore at the premiere the night before. I loved QoS, and we all agreed that we'll want to go and see it again.

Gosh, how very exciting Debs. I'm looking forward to seeing Daniel Craig again...
You've sold us. We were wavering on whether or not to see it.
how exciting - we're going to see it on Sunday as it's Himself's birthday... not quite like a premiere though!
I'm so envious, Debs! Fancy going to a film premiere. We're hoping to go and see it tomorrow but will have to make do with a Diet Coke and nachos. :)
Sounds like a wonderful night!
And Daniel Craig is rather hot... yummm (although my #1 is still Clive Owen!!!)
What a jet set lifestyle you lead - I'm quite jealous x
Sounds like great fun TFx
Wow! Another premiere! You know how to live. I wasn't sure about this one as the reviews have been mixed, but you've definitely sold it to me now.
You lucky, lucky girl!!! I cannot WAIT to see this movie. Glad that you liked it!
jj - he is rather wonderful as Bond, or as anything really.
teresita - we all loved it, I recommend you going, I'm sure you will enjoy it too.
flowerpot - you'll probably be more comfortably dressed than I was though.
phillipa - I could have done with some of those last night as I didn't have time to eat before going.
christina phillips - it was great fun. CO is rather super too though and I do think he would have made a wonderful Bond.
helenmh - only on occasions, most of the time I'm in the shed.
tom foolery - it was, thanks.
maddie moon - the new Bonds don't have the gadgetry that the old ones had but I do enjoy them too.
melissa marsh - I think they said last night that it's out in the States in two weeks time.
Removed from the theatre by ejector seat, I hope, although it's a shame no-one broke the rules so you didn't get to see them hurtling through the roof.
Sounds fab, can't wait to see it. I want to be a Bond girl when I grow up :-)
Sounds like you had a great time, Debs.
Happy Halloween!
Happy birthday Andrea. Tsk Debs, I am so jealous, a shed AND a fireplace?!
tam - now that would be something worth seeing (the ejector seat idea, that is).
I always liked the idea of being sprayed gold when I was younger, gone off the idea now.
pat posner - it was fun and made more so by having the children there too as they really enjoyed themselves.
Happy Halloween to you too.
dj kirkby - I love sitting in front of the fire, it makes the winter far more bearable.
Wow, jet-set lifestyle!
We never have any charity premieres in our village. I suspect it's because we don't have a cinema.
Still, we do get the newspapers on the day of their release.
Wow....that sounds like a fantastic night...you do have a glamorous life when you leave your shed :-)
C x
east anglian troy - it was good fun, especially as the youngsters were looking forward to it so much.
carol & chris - we did have fun, but I'm happy to spend most of the time in the shed (such an unsociable person!)
Happy All Saints Day to you, Debs. Sounds like you had a wonderful Halloween night last night too.
Thanks for putting me and my cat on your blog!
How is Grumpy with the trick or treaters? My dogs get over excited and try to snatch the sweets as I had them over.
How glam to go to the Bond do! Very jealous.
kaye manro - we did, thanks. Your cat is so gorgeous.
fiona - thankfully we didn't get any, but we're a bit off the beaten track. He would have been less than friendly no doubt though.
The Bond evening was fab, I did enjoy myself.
What a glam evening. Did you wear a lovely swishy dress?
Sounds like a fab night.
Martini's? Check!
Delightful man doing stunts - sometimes topless? Check!
Astin Martin? Check!
Night Vision Goggles? Um...Check?!
Am v jealous Debs this sounds v glam! I saw it last night with a herbal tea and choccy bar - somehow doesn't have same ring to it does it? xx
lane - I did wear a rather lovely dress. I hardly ever wear dresses now, so that in itself was quite nice.
kerry - The Martini's were horrendously strong, but the Aston Martin was beautiful and the children had their photo taken next to it.
