Pumpkins, Clocks & Word Count

What Your Jack-o-Lantern Says

You are a gleeful, exuberant person.
You enjoy a good party, and you even enjoy a good brawl.

This Halloween, there is no question what you should be... a pirate!
The candy you should give out: peanut butter cups

As Halloween is almost upon us, I thought I would post this fun Blog quiz.

Yesterday morning, I woke up, relieved to see that it was after 9am and that I'd slept in late for once. I went to join R downstairs who had just arrived home with the papers and have a chat over a cup of tea. After a short while he suggested we went out to the garden and finished planting the plants and trees (yes, more of the damn things) before the forecast rain made an appearance. So we did.

Later that afternoon, after increasing my word count by a couple of thousand words to over 50,000 (yay!), I put on the supper and shouted to R that the oven clock was wrong and needed changing. "No, it's fine," he said.
"But my watch says it's five to seven and the cooker only says five to six."
R said. "Have you put your watch back an hour yet?"

Needless to say, I'd forgotten all about the clocks going back, although it had occurred to me that the day seemed to last longer than normal. I'd forgotten to change my watch or the clock by my bed and so was on a different time to the rest of the family. Mind you, that doesn't sound very unusual, I'm usually on a different planet.

I quite like the flexibility of the day the clocks change - you can sort of decide what time you want it to be! And this time I definitely appreciated the chance to have an extra hour in bed.

It's a good job these days are on Sundays. I made a bit of a mess of it too, changing some clocks, forgetting others.

Yay for the word count!

Ooh, I forget how it affects me here - I mean if I want to ring home ... you must be seven hours behind us now.

I'll never forget turning up an hour early for sunday lunch once when we forgot the clocks changed. It was soooo embarrassing.

helen - I like it too, mind you, I can't believe I forgot about it, I'm usually the bossy one who keeps reminding everyone else.

lane - I agree, I'd be useless if they happened on any other day.

jj - I must remember that my mother is now two hours behind when I phone her.

How embarrassing that's exactly the sort of thing I'd do too.

They switched things around here in the states. We don't move the clocks back for a week or so yet. (So your post really freaked me out.)

Now, as for jack-o-lanterns, I'm supposed to be handing out candy corn. Feh, it's chocolate or nothing at this house. =o)

I told hubby I'd put all the clocks back. He thought I'd asked him to put all the clocks back.

I couldn't work out why my computer clock hadn't done what it should have done and 'put itself back'.

Well done on the word count, Debs!

Woo hoo! Great job on increasing the word count! That's always a great feeling. :-)

'I'm ususally on a different planet' LOL...I know that feeling. I picked the same jack o lantern as you! Apparently we're both party girls?! x

My Jack o'Lantern says I should dress up as a large version of something small! That'll be myself then...

Well done on the impressive word count :o) (Did you catch Richard Armitage on This Morning today? Not that I was watching it, it just happened to be on the background...honest!)

I spent the whole day yesterday changing clocks and then forgetting why they were changed. Is it time to start worrying about me? :-) Loved the "test". It said I should dress up as something cute, like a bunny and give out candy corn. Hmmm - not sure about that (especially since I hate candy corn and the thought of me in a bunny outfit is horrifying). But it was still fun to do.

I forgot the clocks went back and had a nice surprise when I realised I had an extra hour to waste!
Well done on the word count, btw.

b e sanderson - R's brother in NZ will be changing their clocks in about a week too, and in France, I think. All very confusing.

pat posner - your comment made me laugh so much, it sounds very like the communication between R and self.

melissa marsh - thanks, it's always good to get to 50k, now I just have to keep going.

fionnuala - we do sound rather similar, don't we?

karen - a large version of something small? How strange.

I'll admit that I did see RA on This Morning, I'd taped it incase I missed it. Didn't he look heavenly?

sueg - so funny, I can't imagine me dressing up as a bunny in any circumstances, especially not if I don't want to frighten people.

tam - it would have been nice to realize I had the extra hour whilst still in bed, but dopey here, only noticed by evening time!

Congrats on the 50k mark Debs, dobule Yay!

The Bloke from Stoke fed the dogs at 2.30 yesterday, usually he does it at 3.30 but I thought nothing of it as it was the weekend. Then he asked me what time I was putting the chicken in for tea. I said about four, he said it was gone four... it was gone three and he hadn't noticed either...

Congrats on the word count! YAY! I still haven't changed most of our clocks yet. I think we're going to live an hour out for the next week while we're on holiday :) I'm not ready for darkness in the afternoon just yet!

I really love the extra hour. Really, really love it. But the joy it brings just doesn't make up for the pain of the loss in spring.

I used to love going to the pub the night the clocks went back cause it meant I had an extra hour drinking time.....I was young then....when we were still in the UK it was just great to get another hour in bed!!

You Halloween quiz made me laugh.....I got the same as Sue....don't think a bunny costume would be really me!!

I still haven't got over the clock change. When we were farming we changed slowly over several days because of the adverse effect on the sheep. well done on the word count.

l-plate author - thanks.

LOL, it sounds as if your house was as confused as mine, well the people in it anyway.

mummy - I don't blame you, though it was a little confusing getting up in daylight for the first time in ages.

b - I hate losing that hour in spring too.

carol - I used to do the same thing, many moons ago and always looked forward to the extra hour during the night for partying, now I want it for more sleep.

dj kirkby - thanks.

I don't think I've ever tasted those, to be honest.

phillipa - thanks, I'm enjoying writing it too.

sheepish - I'd never thought of animals and how it must effect them before.

Your word count is smokin'. Good going, Debs.

The pumpkin test says that I tend to be a goofy, optimistic person. Hm.

wordtryst - goofy, optimistic and someone who writes a great book.
