It's such a relief to be back in the shed once more. Although I can write pretty much anywhere (unfortunately not at work, but that isn't due to lack of wanting to, more because I'm not paid to do that/don't have a second to). It has been so cold recently that the poor heater couldn't keep me warm enough, despite copious layers.
The editing is coming along really well, although I can't wait to finish working on this book as the next one is driving me mad it's so desperate to be written. I'll need to do a lot of research for this one, and have been doing bits and pieces for about a year now, but have determined to get the three (and a half) books I've already written as good as I can, and only then will I let myself become fully absorbed in this one.
Talking of cold, S arrived at her ski destination safely, has had breakfast, and is on her way to the ski slopes. How do I know this? Well, the school has set up a blog and is keeping parents up to date this way. I was so impressed, and not a little in awe at how different schooling is from when I was there 110 years ago.
J's op went very well, and at some point the doctor noticed his shoulders shaking and asked if he was all right. J had to admit that he was giggling. Mind you, he soon stopped when the anaesthetic wore off, poor devil.

oooh the shed looks marvellous! Happy writing in the warmth :o)
So glad the trip and the op are going OK.
Blinkin' 'eck woman, how many notebooks etc do you have in that shed of yours? ;-) Glad J is OK, I thought for a wee moment that it was you that went in for an op (relief!) Now stop getting distracted and keep writing. Tfx
I absolutely love the look of your shed. It looks so inviting I want to jump through this screen and go in there myself!
Love your shed and as usual, am so impressed at how prolific you are.
A blog for parents to keep up to date! What a great idea.
Glad to know that the weather has improved so much so you can return to your shed.
Good luck with your editing. Are your books part of a series?
Glad to know J's op went well.
mummy - it's such a relief to be back amongst all my mess, I love it.
tf - I have too many notebooks to count. J is fine, thanks, and to be honest, I've also had an op, but didnt like to post about it as I hadn't told S before she left on her holiday. I'm okay too though.
sueg - thanks, I love it in there, everything is so close by.
lane - it helps that I have no distractions when I'm in the shed.
I'm so impressed with the schools, I suppose it's so fretting parents don't keep phoning up.
annie w - it's lovely to be back in there.
The next one I want to work on is a prequel (although it will stand alone) to my first book that I wrote. The others are not connected.
I love your shed. And look at Grumpy 'helping' you. He's so cute!
With its south facing window your shed should soon be getting nice and warm. I would guess from the angle of the sun's rays that photo was taken at about twenty minutes to two?
I bet it's great to be back in the shed Debs. It looks like a writers haven in there!
J giggled during his op? What is he like! I love the idea of a parents blog so you can keep up to date with what S is up to, how reassuring. Debs, I covet your shed so much...xo
I love your shed :-)) x
helen - it's great to be back in there with himself.
troy - lol, yes, it was in the afternoon.
dj kirkby - he is not at all fazed by such things, but is a little sore now.
I love the shed, it's so peaceful.
amanda - thanks, me too.
Your shed looks heavenly - an escape from it all! Best wishes with your writing. I'm finding editing such hard work - I so easily procrastinate. Now, I must float off around the blogosphere once more ... its all in the name of 'reasearch' - honest!
So glad you're back in your shed. It looks wonderful - your own peaceful haven. Happy writing!
Glad the op and the trip are going well. A blog for parents - what a brilliant idea.
catharine w - I'm off to carry on with the editing too, having spent 3 1/2 hours researching something that I wasn't going to start looking at until the editing was finished!
shirley - I lurve being in the shed, and am so thrilled to be back in there.
Grumpy is obviously taking his duties very seriously. Good dog.
Love the lanterns Debs. And how hard you're working, m'dear.
I LOVE that pic of you in the shed. How FAB is that?
And I am now totally jealous since it is still freezing here.
Best of luck with the op and the writing.
I want a shed (how unusual for a bloke).
Ooh Debs, I love that we can get a nose in your shed. It looks fabulous.
Blog for the ski trip, eh? I might mention that at school for Daughter's upcoming trip.
fiona - I love my lanterns, although they're probably getting a little faded now. I think Grumps is happy to be back in his chair too.
ray-anne - I think the family are relieved that I'm back in the shed too, less paperwork scattered all over the house.
captain black - I recommend having a shed, although the rest of my family think I'm a little mad to spend so much time in one.
jj - it's a bit of a tip, but I know where everything is in there (sort of).
It's a great idea being able to find out what they're doing on the trip.
That's a great photo - I especially like Grumpy daring anyone to interrupt the work! Well, you been hugely busy away from the shed so goodness what being back there will do for your work rate. Won't be long until your on to that next book. Hope J's toe is feeling better - one of mine now has a black face (again) after yesterday's run!
So glad you're back in the shed! Doesn't it feel great to get back to the writing once again?
If you double click on the photo it enlarges and you can see the clock on the wall - I cheated but wasn't caught out!
Confess I embiggened your shed to see what makes a happy writing space, Debs. Love how small it is, but so full of inspiration for a writer. And apparently Grumpy is willing to stay with you long enough to need toys?
Offspring in Austria? Lucky! I've just been watching this wonderful WW II Czech film, Zelary, that was made in the breathtaking Austrian mountains. Have you seen? If not I recommend, it's a great and improbable love story.
chrish - Grumps loves the shed as much as I do, and hates it if anyone comes in to interrupt. He's the perfect writing partner.
Your poor toe, ouch. J's is healing well, thanks. It will be a relief not to worry about it anymore.
melissa - It is wonderful. I've still been writing, but in the house, so there's more interruption. I love having the peace again.
troy - ha, very clever, however, the clock hasn't actually been wound for about a year as the ticking annoys me, so that was a bit of a fluke. Impressive thinking though!
faye - he'll stay there for hours, as long as I let him out for the occasional loo break and to chase the odd bird.
I haven't seen the film, but will have to check it out, thanks.
