Well, maybe not fame exactly (or at all, in fact) but a mention in The Times, which is fun. Here's the link to the Times Online article about the Shed of the Year Competition and where I'm mentioned way down the page somewhere near the bottom, but it's a mention nonetheless.
It was good to have something to cheer me up this weekend, as nothing was quite going to plan. For the past few years I've attended the RNA Conference, but couldn't make it this year, and despite being kept up-to-date with the RNA Tweet, so cleverly arranged by Liz Fenwick, I would have preferred to have been there in person. Also an unmentionable person (whispers the word 'ex-husband' and tries not to get annoyed, yet again) has been causing unnecessary problems, and so my intended writing this week has dwindled to very little output, as most of my energies have been tied up elsewhere.
Nevermind, I'm going to press on with a short story I need to finish asap and then settle down to watch the Katie Price interview with Piers Morgan (don't groan). Then on Monday, I shall look forward to all the brilliant reports about the RNA Conference.
Have a great weekend.

Congrats on the fame and huge sympathies on the Unmentionable Person front - must be something in the air because my Unmentionable person has also been a complete sh*t, I mean, pain and made me incadescant with rage too.
Sympathies on the ex front. Nightmare. But well done for getting in The Times.
You're mentioned in the Times?! How exciting! Well done :)
Sorry things haven't worked out as planned this weekend :( Enjoy watching the interview! x
I'm so happy for you! on your fame, i meant..
How exciting, Debs! :-)
Yipee! The Times - very classy :)
Groan! Jordan?!!! :O
Have a good writing day :) TFx
I might enter my shed in the Naturists' Shed of the Year competition. That would be in the "inhibitions shed" catagory (ha! ha!). Or maybe I'll get cold feet. (Or both!).
Sorry, being a bit silly here in attempt to cheer you up. Congratulations on your mention in The Times.
Congratulations on THE mention and HUGS on the other!
xxPat
wow! that's cool!
chris - not you as well. Such a pain in the butt.
helen - thanks, on both fronts.
b - thanks very much. I did enjoy the interview, how sad does that make me?!
melrox - thanks m'dear.
amanda - it was fun.
tf - giggle. Writing has actually been okay today. Such a relief.
troy - you did cheer me up, thanks for that.
pat - thanks, much appreciated.
laura - it was pretty exciting.
Well done Debs. The Times, no less! I was a bit scared of the RNA conference, and the party, so I didn't go. I have joined the NWS, though, on JM's advice.
Hope you got your short story done and dusted before settling down to Katie and Piers... and well done for your mention in the Times!! Loved the article. X
Ooh, The Times, get you! I hope you won't be too important to visit my blog now. I saw the interview with Katie Price and Piers Morgan a while ago. I remember finding it very watchable and quite interesting at the time, but I can't actually remember much about it now...
Chopper and I watched the Piers interview. It is all very sad and I think she is heartbroken, I don't care what anyone else says about her behaviour. Some people are very good at compartmentalising, me for one. Good luck to you with your ex. I am off to read about your shed now. xo
Congratulations on your mention in the Times and Commiserations on the problems with he who will not be mentioned!!
*sending hugs*

Yay! Name in print! Trying to remember who said there's no such thing as bad publicity. Especially for a writer? Sorry you've been having some glitches--they will raise their ugly heads ever now and then--so long as we have family, friends, and colleagues? :-)
I totally get your anticipation of the celeb interview. Personally I'm looking forward to The Bachelorette tonight on teevee. It's wrong on so many levels but pure escape, which we all need at times.
Mentioned in The Times? Wow. What next, I wonder?
Sympathies re the -ex. I'll put him in one my books. ;o)
annie - I'll be going to the conference next year, so if you go then, it would be great fun. It's always a little nerve-wracking at first.
lwm - thanks. I eventually got it done on the Sunday, after a lot of faffing about.
leigh - I just wish the Times bit was about my writing, rather than the shed.
dj - I totally agree with you about Katie P. I compartmentalize emotions too, though not as well as I used to.
carol - thanks for the hugs, I needed them. Have just got off the phone from him just now!
faye - it was fun seeing my name in there, and the competition was enjoyable too.
I loved the interview, though my husband groans when I watch such things.
shirley - Love the thought of you putting him in one of your books. Made me feel much better :)
Sorry your shed didn't win, Debs. I felt a bit glum missing the conf too. See you at the next one.
Also sorry about unmentionable!
Congrats on the mention in the article, (all small steps you know!). Sorry to hear that you are having a few 'issues' with someone, hope all is resolved soon for you
Hugs
Michelle

I completely understand about the ex-husband sucking your energy dry. I've gone through that a few times lately.
Hugs...
Great article!
Sorry about the ex. We missed you at the conference. I've put the first report up!

susie - thanks re the shed and the unmentionable.
It was strange following twitter and not being at the conference. Definately going next year.
michelle - thanks so much.
melissa - thanks. Hugs to you too, you've had a hard time with your unmentionable too.
liz - thanks.
It was great to be able to following twitter throughout, although I missed being there terribly.
Congrats, famous lady with the famous shed!
As for ex-husbands - they should be outlawed. Except, we'd have to keep them then and that thought gives me the shudders. :) I could commiserate by telling you horrendous anecdotes about mine - but I won't.
Off to read your link...
I really must join the RNA. Why is Katie Price so facinating? I admire her, not least for having a disabled son (been there doing that), she does so much. I'd like half her energy!!
liane - thanks m'dear. I tried to comment on your post the other day, but it wouldn't do it for some reason.
I totally agree re ex-husbands, eugh!
claire - you should, the meetings and conferences are always great fun.
I think she manages to pack so much into her life, and I love the way she is with Harvey. I wouldn't mind some of her energy either.
Hi...been meaning to pop across to yours for ages...via Troy. Then what happens I go and read an article on sheds in the Times...I start thinking "I've seen Debs in a shed before". "It's not - is it?" Lo and behold! It is!
I've got another long fangled and long winded approach to finding somebody..but I'll save that story for a blog. (It's a bit bluer!!!)
Sorry it's taken me so long and well done for the mention in The Times!
It's a pretty big newspaper so I'd consider yourself to be very famous.
I caught a glimpse of the Katie Price interview and couldn't watch for cringing. I find her so odd.
CJ xx
Hadriana - Thanks for finding me. I'm amazed you connected me with the small paragraph in the Times.
cj - aww thank you. I have to make the most of it as it's probably the only fame I'll ever get.
I see what you mean about KP, but I love the show and had to watch the interview.
Hi Debs, just wandering over because the novel racers blog seems to have been locked... any idea what's going on?
Apparently it's something to do with spam, so Liz is going to update any comments received. What a pain.
Thanks, Debs.
