Puppies - One Day Old

Here's a picture of my sister's puppies. I was going to upload a video, but it took forever, so I gave up.

They were born on Wednesday and although I was only at her house for three hours while the last few were born, I was exhausted. All I did was faff about in the background and make her children supper, change the youngest for bed and help lift puppies away when another was about to be born.

I don't know how my sister managed especially as there were nine puppies. They are adorable and Gypsy, their mum, is the most placid, sweet dog I've ever encountered. She was calm and quiet throughout, which is more than can be said for me.

I'm off to see Alfie Boe with Rob this evening and I can't wait, but before then we're entertaining his nephew who's coming over for the day from St Malo where he's been visiting his French grandmother. He actually lives in New Zealand, but is taking time out to travel for a few months. Lucky devil.

Right, I'd better get on and do something with my nails. I can't go out with them in the state they're in. I've always said I'm not made for housekeeping. Unfortunately, I'm the only one who seems to think this way.

OOOOHHHH, they're gorgeous. I love how they're (almost) arranged in alternating colour.

Id like to invite you folks to come to Amish Stories for a recipe for "Famous Pennsylvania Dutch Sticky Cinnamon Buns" along with a book signing schedule for Amish fiction writer Wanda Brunstetter for Pennsylvania and Ohio as well as a contest to meet her. I hope everyone so far is having a great weekend. Thanks everyone. Richard from Amish Stories.

Your sister is very clever, having puppies! Only joking! But yes, adorable, even to me who actually prefers cats to dogs!

Aww, they are adorable.

Is it wrong that I think puppies are cuter than human babies (apart from my own, of course)?

Don't answer that. I already know the answer.

They are absolutely gorgeous! Poor Gypsy - having NINE babies. And they don't look that small - glad she was so calm!

Oh Debs, they are just beautiful!! So sleek an plump, makes me want to take three or four and just cuddle them!!

My nails are short, never grow long. Perhaps if housework wasn't an issue... :))) But then I'd cut them down due to the writing, so I think my husband might wonder what I was complaining about!

Thanks for all the lovely comments.

I wish I could have one of the puppies too, but my husband said 'No', and as he does most of the dog walking in this house I can't really argue with him.

They are so cute - and arranged very carefully in black and white!

Awww...they are SO SWEET! I miss having a dog. We can't have one with our current landlady, but some day we will again...

I'm not made for housekeeping, either. Luckily my husband likes to do it (I know, I'm blessed!).

flowerpot - sis had a picture where they looked like little piano keys.

melissa - I'd love one of the pups too.

Your husband sounds wonderful, there aren't many men who enjoy housework as far as I can tell.

suzanne - aren't they just!

Gosh! I bet you feel proud (I would be!). Amazing to think that suddenly they're here! Hope you had a good evening out and that the family are now sparing your nails!

Ooh. They're beautiful. Takes me back to playing midwife to my son's dog Tess about 10 years ago.

Chris - we had a lovely evening out, Alfie Boe was amazing. Nails never seem to recover, I'll have to give up housework all together.

Liane - how lovely. It's an exciting time, though my sister must be getting very tired.

Oh my! Nine! They are utterly, completely gorgeous. And I so want a puppy. (I whispered that so my dogs didn't hear...)

Deborah Carr (Debs) said...

Jan - I agree ;-)

Shirley - I want one too...

The puppies are SO gorgeous and as for Alfie Boe! Please report back - I managed to get tickets to see him for next January, as he sold out 3 nights at the Symphony Hall and I am so envious you entertained his nephew.

Deborah Carr (Debs) said...

Phillipa's - Alfie Boe was brilliant, I'd love to see him again.

I must have worded my post wrongly, because it was Rob's nephew we entertained, not AB's, though that would have been nice.
