Dark Chocolate, Oscar Puffin & Breaking up

R doesn't eat chocolate often but when he does it's always dark, so imagine his delight at receiving three bars of the new Galaxy from our friend A. He happily stashed it away and opened one bar a couple of days later stupidly leaving about a third of it on the kitchen worktop and assuming that as no-one else in the house likes dark chocolate that it would be waiting for him on his return. This is where I come in. I just happened to be passing on my way to the kettle when I spied this new bar and sampled the tiniest of bits. It was glorious and I don't like darker chocolate. So that was the end of his bar, not all at once you understand, but bit by scrumptious bit until all that was left was the torn wrapper. Don't feel sorry for him, he has two more to eat, which strangely enough I can't find.

For those of you that have connections with Jersey, you will know of Oscar Puffin. He is a large puffin who presents birthday announcements every day on Channel Television with a young chap. One of my colleagues recently took part in a driving scavengar hunt down to Monaco and another participant (the young chap who teams up Oscar Puffin) took the bird along for the journey. My colleague kidnapped the bird and brought it into work and has spent two lunchtimes taking photos of people with Oscar for a £1 a photo with all money going to Jersey Hospice. As lovely as this idea is, the thought of a) having my photo taken with the thing, b) having my photo taken at all, c) having to endure the entire company looking at my picture when they were emailed to everyone was just a little to much for me, so I ended up paying £1 not to have my photo taken. Yes, I know, I'm a coward.

I've broken up from work today for ten blissful days. Yay. R's three younger boys are coming on Saturday for a week but as teenagers they don't surface until lunchtime (the younger one actually does come to think of it). I fully intend making the most of the peaceful mornings and spending as much time in the shed as possible knocking this darn rewrite into some sort of acceptable shape. I'm now going to act as referree between J & S who are bickering and causing the dog to bark incessantly and when I've done that I'm going to hide in the shed - again.

You can't just leave chocolate lying around and expect it still to be there later can you! That's madness. Sounds like R has learnt the hard way:-)

Enjoy half term. Sounds like you're going to have a house full. It's a good job you have a lovely shed to retreat to. Hope Mr Spider has long gone (and all his relatives:-)

oooh, I love dark choc. It's supposed to have something good in it too but I can't remember what, and it's less fattening than milk choc. Eat, eat.

It's funny how you can't find the other bars, though, isn't it? That happens in my house too.

How silly is that? Leaving his unfinished chocolate under your very nose? Deserves everything he got.

And mmmmm, dark chocolate! Chocolate is not chocolate unless it's dark IMHO.

OMG Galaxy are now doing dark chocolate!! I looooove dark chocolate!! Did make me laugh that you couldn't find his other two bars....it was the fact that you went looking that made me laugh!!

I think I would have paid my £1 not to have a photo taken too!!

Have a lovely weekend and good luck with the re-write :-)

Tragically, I auditioned for Channel Telly once and, once I'd done the news-reading bit, had to try to get lively with Oscar as some sniggering burk lay at my feet with his hand up the bird's behind. Quite bizarre, as job interviews go.

Enjoy your break - I'm off too next week. A-writing here we come, eh?

I'd pay £1 not to have my picture taken too! And fancy hiding chocolate around the place, that's just asking for trouble. Doesn't R know that you scoff it all at once?

Only a man could contemplate LEAVING some chocolate. I don't think I've ever done that in my life. He had it coming, sadly.

There's definitely a holiday feel in the air with half-term looming! Hope you enjoy your break :o)

There is no louder voice than chocolate - did not R know that? Silly man, expecting it to sit there nice and quiet on the kitchen worktop!

I too have just broken up for a few days annual leave tagged onto the bank holiday. Don't go back until June 2nd. Hooray!! Lots of writing time.

Plus, there's no calories in Other People's Chocolate - fact.

lane - I know. What was he thinking?

It's going to be busy/noisy but still far better than being at work.

helenmh - I know, I'm so excited.

jj - It has Phenylethylamine (I had to look that up) and makes me feel so happy, yum.

Still can't find the other bars.

hilary- he won't do that again. I prefer milk chocolate but the Galaxy dark is gorgeous.

carol and chris - I did enjoy the chocolate.

Hope you have a lovely weekend too. Rewrite coming along v slowly.

spiralskies - your comment made me laugh. Poor you, what a horrible interview. I couldn't possibly have concentrated with some man up a puppet's bum and remember to speak too.

Happy week off and writing.

yvonne - men really are different to us especially where chocolate is concerned.

karen - neither have I. In fact I dont think I've ever not finished a bar at one sitting.

annieye - he knows now, silly man. He thought it was safe as I dont usually eat the dark stuff.

Enjoy your holiday, I'm not back until 2nd June too. Yay.

tam - I do like you, you say such clever things that simply have to be true.

Ooohhhh I am so envious, 10 whole days to luxuriate in writing. Enjoy! Ask A if he has ever eaten Lindt dark chocolate with Chili...sublime.

Oh wierd, I thought I had left a commnet about dark chili chocolate but must have forgot to check that it was done right. Lol to Tam's comment.

dj kirkby - you did leave a message but they have to wait for me to publish them first, so that's why it took a while.

I shall have to mention the dark chili chocolate to him, not sure if I've ever seen that anywhere over here. Dx
