Size Does Matter & Punctuation Marks

Horror of horrors, our television is on the blink and has had to be taken away and naturally the man couldnt give us any idea when we can expect this back again. So we now have our bedroom tv in the lounge and watching it feels like I'm looking down a pair of binoculars the wrong way. R is somewhat amused at my despair as I was the one who argued against having a 42" tv in the first place. How fickle and easily swayed am I? I'm now longing to have the damn thing back again at some unknown point in the future.

I didn't realize that I hadn't blogged since Saturday. I have been visiting other blogs but had forgotten to post on mine. My excuse is that I've had some sort of bug (headaches and feeling sick) and been madly busy at work, then racing round after J (who is doing his Alevels at the moment) and S who seems to join in every activity that she is allowed to. The garden is still resembling a surreal cheeseplant at the moment. The dog is feigning exhaustion and I'm not surprised given that he's spent most of the past week digging for victory/the earth's inner core/moles?

To make this remotely writerly as I have nothing to report regarding progress on the rewrite (agonisingly slow), writing of short stories (even slower) etc, here is a little Blogquiz. Apparently I am a comma. I actually wanted to be a question mark but didn't manage to get my answers to get me one (if you get my drift), and it wasn't through lack of trying/cheating. In the end, I gave up and answered honestly, so I am a comma! Not madly exciting, is it? What are you?

You Are a Comma

You are open minded and extremely optimistic.

You enjoy almost all facets of life. You can find the good in almost anything.

You keep yourself busy with tons of friends, activities, and interests.

You find it hard to turn down an opportunity, even if you are pressed for time.

Your friends find you fascinating, charming, and easy to talk to.

(But with so many competing interests, you friends do feel like you hardly have time for them.)

You excel in: Inspiring people

You get along best with: The Question Mark

I'm a comma as well. Which is nice!

I must say, I'm not sure we'd survive without the TV, which is a terrible admission. I couldn't miss The Apprentice for Desperate Housewives tonight, for a start!

Hope you're feeling better now. Mine have got GCSE's and A levels at the moment, so I know how you feel :o)

Hello, fellow comma.

The tv looks lost and unloved in the corner of the room.

Poor you with two doing exams. J, who is usually so chilled couldn't eat much last night. Such a shame, I'll be glad when the exams are over and he can relax once more.

I'm a comma too and I really expected to be an exclamation mark!

Bad luck about the TV. Why does it always happen when there's good TV on:-(

Good luck surving the exam stress. Got them here too and I'll be glad when they're over:-)

I'm another comma!

Oooh am jealous of you 42" TV. My 28" TV that I thought was MASSIVE when I got it (it's not a flat screen or LCD or plasma so it IS actually massive but not screenwise!) takes up loads of space in my flat but I'd love to have a 42" TV (I'd take down the mirror above the fireplace and put it there insetad!)

I hope you're feeling better now?

Thanks for dropping into my place. I am MOST jealous of your shed. Our place is chaos right now what with replastering and... the fact that I'm really disorganised. Oh for a shed to retreat to....

Ooh Debs - I'm a question mark!!!

I'm not sure I want to be an exclamation mark but that's what I am!

I'm a colon. Which doesn't sound that great. ;)

I resisted a large screen tv for ages but now that I have one I couldn't go back! Terrible. Hope you feel better very soon.

lane - another comma! Finding a much smaller tv will provide amusement for the youngsters for about a milisecond. It's a shame because it helps J have a mental break from studying. Hope yours are fine with their exams too.

calistro - yet another comma. The tv we now have in the sitting room is the one that was there before we bought the 42". I used to think it was rather large but now looks tiny.

b - thanks, I do feel much better. The shed is heavenly and a perfect place to hide in, which I do with great regularity.

helenmh - I would have rather been a question mark, more exciting some how.

andrea - why am I not at all surprised that you are an exclamation mark! Brilliant.

yvonne - a colon isn't so bad although it could have a prettier name.

I was the same and fought against the large tv for so long. Now I'm like a little old lady and have had to pull my chair closer to the tv to see it better.

Oh good quiz - I am a semi colon. Good luck to J with the AL's - and to you (so glad those days are over!!)

chrish - ooh a semi colon.

Thanks, re J. Poor him, I think he's longing to finish them.

Hi Debs, I'm a comma too!

Loved those photos of Grumpy, they made me smile! x

I was going to say commas sound so lovely, Debs, why would you want to be anything else? And then, guess what. I am a comma too. I'd want to be something else for the sake of uniqueness, by the sound of the results here. Cool quiz.

I'm a dash - aparently I excel in anything to do with money....Hmmm, if it's spending it then I can certainly do that very very well!! (not sure that's what they meant but never mind)

I have a friend that insists that she is not short sighted...she keeps telling me that she can see the TV perfectly well....although I have noticed that her TV keeps getting bigger and bigger....

jj - never mind, join the club. So strange that so many of us are commas.

l-plate author - another one, crikey what is it about us that we are all commas.

Glad you liked the pics of that naught dog.

hilary - lol, I know, I wanted to be different too. Hilarious.

carol and Chris - a dash, well done. I'm useless with money so that's probably why I don't come near being one of those.

I'm longing to have my tv back.

Can I join the comma gang too?(although when I first typed that it said the 'coma' gang, which is equally applicable)

Debs said...

tam - of course you can. I'm happy to welcome another comma to the comma gang.
