The air display was incredible, as usual, and as much as I would like to show you photos but my useless camera (not me, of course) didn't manage to get close enough to the planes to be worth posting.
We also walked Grumpy on the beach and took a photo of this unusual art deco house called, Seagull. It is right on the seafront at St Ouen's Bay and can be rented by anyone that wishes to stay there.
Here's a picture of the view from Seagull today, as you can see the weather was overcast and we were lucky not to get wet.
I can't believe it's already seven years since that dreadful day that we were all so horrified by the scenes of devastation in New York. I'm sure everyone remembers where they were on that day and I can't imagine that any one of us will ever forget the abject horror and disbelief we all felt.
I have tomorrow off work, so for me it's the weekend, such a relief. I have so much writing that I need to get on with, but will be meeting a good friend and her husband for lunch and then helping pack our Parish magazine later on. I help with this every quarter and really enjoy being involved.

That's a dramatic looking sky! And what an amazing house. They must have some views!
Enjoy your long weekend:-)
Hiya Debs
I can remember exactly where I was that day because it is my birthday. It's funny since then, not many people forget it. It's a sad day but I find myself having to watch a program about it and then it makes me realise how lucky I am. xx
I remember where I was that day. I was at this special needs childrens group. Both boys were still in a buggy!! time def flies! Dramatic pics debs! Looks stormy!
9/11 was one of those events no-one will ever forget and like when JFK was shot, everyone remembers what they were doing when it happened.
I was very pregnant with my son, who was due 14 days later. I was sitting having coffee with my friend watching in disbelief.
Great pictures and glad you enjoyed the display.
Take care
Michelle
That Seagull House is beautiful!! I love old buildings that are full of character and the views of the ocean are stunning!! I miss the rugged coastline of Britain!!
9/11 - I was watching the events unfold in my office in London - I just couldn't believe what I was seeing....We were told that we were in a potential danger area and then the building was evacuated.....I think that unreal feeling will probably always stay with me!!
I hope you enjoy your day off...don't work too hard!!

lane - it's a lovely house and was used by the scouts for years. Now the States have done it up and it looks fab inside (had a look when they had an open day).
l-plate - Happy birthday to you. I agree, these are the things that make us remember how lucky we all are.
motherx - they grow up so quickly, don't they. I still see J as a little boy and he towers above me now.
mickmouse - the sky was dark and heavy on one side of the bay and blue with puffy white clouds on the other.
carol - you'll be seeing the rugged coasts very soon now, so excited for you.
I think 'that unreal feeling' describes that day perfectly.
9/11 I was working in the building by the base of Tower 42 (old name - the NatWest Tower)in London. When we became aware that terrorists were flying planes into skyscrapers it didn't seem the best place to be. So we evacuated and went home. My friend said at the time that this Islamic Terror War could last 50 years - I'm afraid he could be right.
Lovely picture of the sky and sea Debs. Sad memories for all.
So glad the air show was a good one! Still wish I could have gone. :-)
I was at home the day of 9-11 - and I didn't move far from my television the entire day.
Seven years...I still don't really understand why :-(
east anglian troy - I hope your friend wasn't right, but it does look like he was. I'm not surprised you all went home that day.
jj - the sky was so beautiful, I just wish my useless camera could take better photos of the planes.
melissa marsh - I was out at lunch today and several flew past before leaving the island and going home, it was a wonderful bonus.
tam - I know, it all seemed so senseless, dreadful.
I was in the Lake District with my ex husband and my mother, who at the time was terminally ill with cancer. It was such a horrific time and I can remember going to sleep that night and wondering if any of us would wake up in the morning.
Isn't it wonderful the way they've done up Seagull? I am totally staying there next time I come and visit the parentals.
Can't believe so many years have gone by... life really is like the tide, isn't it, ebbing and flowing and throwing these up that we don't expect...
Glad you're having fun.
I'm popping in from the widget!
We have an Art Deco building in our local park and it's lovely. There's quite a few wedding receptions held there.
I remember being at work on September 11th seven years ago and a colleague happened to be on the BBC news website just after lunch, when it came up as breaking news. We went into the Committee Room and put the TV on, and pretty soon there was a little crowd of employees in there, all watching the screen through disbelieving eyes.
helenmh - it seems so recent, but then so long ago too. You're life sounds like it's changed a lot since then too.
spiralskies - it is gorgeous, isn't it and about time they did it up and made the most of it.
It's frightening how quickly time flies by.
zinnia cyclamen - thanks, I enjoy most of the time I spend out of the office :)
willow - thanks for popping by, I've also been to visit you too.
annieye - I love anything of the Art Deco period.
I remember going into our kitchen at work just after the first plane hit and seeing the second one fly into the other tower. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. So horrific.
