Displacement Activities & Half Way Mark

Whilst at Gatwick the other day, I popped in to WH Smith and bought this fab book, Strictly Love, by Julia Williams. I've had a sneak peak inside and it looks wonderful, so now I can't wait to get reading. I'm also intending watching Strictly Come Dancing from the beginning this year, as usually I don't bother until near the end of the series.

I'm now seriously addicted to the Black Box Widget and have registered to take part in Slingink, thanks to Calistro posting about it. I've also found this delightful scene on You Tube for any of you that may wish to see Elliot Cowan as Darcy with his wet shirt on (sigh). I was so surprised (and not a little delighted) when this happened and thought it very clever of them (writer/director/producer?) to put it in to the series. Apparently the poor chap filmed this scene in November.

However, despite spending so much time on all these displacement activities, I've now managed to reach the half way mark on my present WIP. What I haven't done is get on with Assignment Five of my course, and shall now go, armed with a packet of Midget Gems to the peace and quiet of the shed, far, far away (well, down the path) from the distraction of the internet.

I have to agree how lovely that particular scene was. 'Darcy' did look rather lovely....

Well done reaching half way on your WIP!

I know they say don't judge a book by it's cover, but that book looks rather lovely to me!

Just watched SCD and am quite taken with that swimmer chappie - Mark Foster? Lovely, er, face :o)

When I read "far, far away" it was Shrek's voice in my head. Am I going mad?

I can't stand Gems - What are they for?

Congrats on reaching halfway on your WIP :-)

paige - you obviously have great taste too :)

Thanks, I'm enjoying writing it more than I was at the beginning.

helenmh - thanks, I really should find a substitute for them though as they are 680 cals a bag.

karen - it is lovely, isn't it?

I have to agree with you. MF is certainly worth watching on SCD.

jj - as I'm a little mad already, I'm not the one to comment on anyone else :)

I'm not quite sure why I have the M gems to be honest. In fact I think they are a bad habit that I need to get rid of.

annie bright - thanks, it's not been too hard with the 100 words a day to inspire me to get on with the writing.

Well done on reaching the half-way mark. Don't know how you do it scoffing MGs though - those things have (or used to have) so many artifial colurings in I get a headache just looking at them.

Love the new pic of you and Grumpy!

Aw Debs, thanks so much for the mention! I am immensely grateful to my lovely publishers for the fab cover!
My fave SCD contestant is John Sergeant. I'll be blogging about it on my dancing blog, but er, probably tomorrow now...

Well done on getting to the half way point as well!

dj kirkby - the best thing I ever did re writing, was not having internet installed in to the shed.

pat - to be honest, now that I've worked out how many useless calories I'm stuffing into my face, I've now decided to cold turkey and stop eating them at all.

Thanks, re the pic too.

flowerpot - I loved it too. I don't usually watch reality programmes as such, but this one is definately worth following.

jane - the cover is so beautiful and I can't wait to read the book.
I shall have to read your dancing blog tomorrow too. John Sergeant seems like a really lovely chap.

Debs. I must out JUlia's book on my list - I emailed her when it first appeared to say how gorgeous the cover was and hasn't she been taking lessons as research? Now, that's dedication.

As for Elliot C - my daughter is mad on him. Thanks for the link. You'' make her day.

Well done on reaching half way

Congrats on halfway mark Debs. What with SCD and the last part of L in A this week there are a lot of distractions. Darcy best stay dry this week:-)

That's great that you've hit the half-way mark! Am also being distracted a lot since the holiday, must stop...

phillipa - I've had a sneaky peak inside the book and it looks great.

Your daughter obviously has wonderful taste in men. Glad she liked the pic.

lane - I know, so many distractions, but all of them lovely. I don't think I can cope if he gets wet again. I gather he follows her back to 21stC, so it should be interesting.

yvonne - it's hard to get back into the work mode, I think. It certainly is for me anyway.

melissa marsh - thanks so much, I'm enjoying writing it so far, here's hoping it lasts.
