I received yet another book in the post yesterday (I know, I know, I have a serious book addiction). It was Molly's Millions, by the very lovely, Victoria Connelly and is her first book published in the UK, although she has had several already published in Germany, one of which was made into a film. Don't you love the cover? I can't wait to start reading it, although I have to finish Jojo Moyes, The Peacock Emporium (very good) and Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks (fantastic), both of which I'm half way through at the moment, before allowing myself to start anything else. Too many books, far too little free time to get through them all.
This morning, as I dressed for Race for Life, we had a horrendous downpour, but thankfully it soon passed and the sun came out. I joined the 'walkers', as opposed to the fit 'runners' and began my walk. I had just passed the 1km mark, when the first runner ran past me going the other way! It was a beautiful morning, and as I gazed across St Aubin's bay, I noticed a dark, grey cloud slowly floating towards us. I had just reached about two thirds of the way when the heavens opened, the slight breeze turned into a gale (exaggeration there) and I got well and truly soaked (no exaggeration at all).
R phoned me to see how far along I was, and offered to collect me, which I thought was very kind. Mind you, I don't think he needed to laugh quite so hard when he saw me, sporting the drowned rat look, as he pulled over to let me in.

Hurrah, you did it! Getting wet is grim but I always love how good you feel when getting warm and dry afterwards. At least no thunder and lightening...

Do you know, I recently picked up a copy of Molly's Millions and realised it had exactly the same plot I was going to use in my next novel!! Most disgruntled I was, though I haven't read it yet ...

Dear All - thanks very much for your comments. I did go straight home to a hot bath, then some chocolate (of course), then later a glass (or two) of rose.

Is this your second year for Race for Life Debs? I'm remembering a pink t-shirt crisis in your past? :-) Good for you and I would appreciate the rain instead of heat to walk in.
I so love Birdsong, don't you? Actually, just been looking for my copy to re-read and checking to see if it's been made into a movie, which I don't think so. And, I'll admit to being reminded of it by the lovely Richard Armitage when he tells Geraldine that he "deeply admires" it in the "Handsome Stranger" episode of Vicar of Dibley. Have you seen this? Are you enjoying Robin Hood and Spooks? Can hardly wait until we can get the new season episodes here in U.S.
That cover is just gorgeous! Congrats on doing the Race for life. The opening ceremony is always very moving. I've never been rained on yet, will be happy to keep avoiding that experience!

I've just been reading about Molly's Millions & it sounds very enjoyable. It fell into my amazon shopping basket whilst I was browsing - overstocked shelves, not my fault - honest!

faye - actually it's the fifth time I've done it, and it's always good fun.
I loved Bird Song (just finished it) but dont think it has been made into a movie. Yes, I did see RA in The Handsome Stranger (many times, sigh, so lovely). Robin Hood finishes this Saturday, looking forward to seeing it, but dont want it to end, and I'm not sure when Spooks is back on.
