Parties, Decorating & Loft Stairs

Cally Taylor is having a book launch party today for her brilliant book, Heaven Can Wait, and unfortunately much as I had hoped to be there, I won't be able to go (flights/hotel bookings) so will miss all the fun (sulk). I will, however, be attending a friend's 50th birthday party tonight, Happy Birthday Abbey, and hope that by then I'll feel and look rather more acceptable than I do now.

Ours is not a festive house at the moment, with S full of cold and having been kept awake last night with her constant coughing - this is not the happiest of teenagers. R is upstairs in bed - having already been to work - as I think I've generously (!) passed on to him what I've been suffering from for the past week.

I still need to get the Christmas decorations down from the loft though, but remembering Heaven Can Wait's fiestly heroine, Lucy Brown and what happened to her when attempting to retrieve something from the loft, I'm going to take it easy.

Have a great weekend.

I've got to venture into the loft too later. Let's be careful up there:-)

Hope all your peeps are feeling better soon.

Be careful Debs and Lane... at least you're not going up into the same loft or I'd be worried about the pair of you laughing too much and forgetting to be careful. Hope you all get well soon. Have a great evening.

Sorry to hear you are yours are a bit poorly...we've been battling with the dreaded lurgy too...it certainly seems to be doing the rounds!!

Have fun decorating the tree (Think we'll be doing ours next week!!)

I hope everyone will be feeling better soon at Deb's house. Hope you had a fun b-party with your friend. Take care of yourself and those you love.

I'm most definitely not going to be the one who ventures up into the loft this year. We had a wasps nest in there not long ago - if anyone's getting stung by a sleepy, angry wasp it is not going to be me! Hope your family feels better soon.

Hope you feel better soon, Debs. In my experience, even the grumpiest of teenagers is ungrumped by the appearance of the Xmas decorations box.

Such a shame you couldn't make Cally's party.

Sorry you're all under the weather but better now than at Christmas (eh, ma love)?

lane - we must remember to hold on tightly.

chrish - had a brilliant evening despite having a flat tire just as I left the house.

carol - tissues and sneezing all round and going through Lemsip like crazy. Enjoy decorating your tree.

kaye - many thanks. The party was brilliant, we all had a wonderful time.

annieye - I'm allergic to bee/wasp stings so would be horrified to have a wasps nest in my loft. Poor you, I don't blame you for not being the one to go up there.

jan - yes, it does seem to cheer them up, probably makes them think of all the presents they'll be getting too.

spiralskies - thank you ma love. I was so sorry I couldn't go to Cally's party, I would have loved to have been there.

I hope the whole household get better soon. At least those bugs will be out of the way by Christmas.
Take care in the loft - better not be "fiestly" up there.

I hope you're feeling better and enjoy the party. Congratulations to your friend on her book launch - and good luck with book sales!
I'm trying to remember where I stored my stock of tinsel and decorations - I have a feeling my daughter 'borrowed' it last year... I can't believe it's nearly Christmas. The time just zips by, doesn't it?

I had my loft converted into a room, we now have little 'loft spaces' - you'd think that would make it easier to get the decorations down wouldn't you?? Amazingly it is still a struggle and a chore but SO worth it once the tree is twinkling! :-) x

I wanted to go to Cally's book launch so much and had even booked a childminder but then my operation date came in the post and I had to cancel everything :(

*laughs* I'm the same with my loft. I refuse to go up there now unless someone is holding the ladder. Am scared of life imitating art!

Such a shame you couldn't make the launch party but *fingers crossed* there will be more :)

Hope everyone feels better soon.

I'm behind on the decorations, too. Sigh.

We missed you - but, hey, I'm sure we'll manage something next year. I hope the party you did go to was fun, and that all your lurgy-ridden family are recovering now.

Hope you all feel better soon, Debs! I'm a great fan of taking it easy, especially when you're not feeling up to par.

troy - we're doing well thanks and R is nearly better.

leigh - many thanks, and I'll remind my mother about the photo she was going to send you.

serendipity - you would think it was easier to get to things, but I'd probably be just as disorganized.

l'aussie - many thanks and the same to you.

dj - I was so sorry to miss it too and am glad we can at least read about it from other's blogs etc.

calistro - there will be more, I'm sure of it and I'll definately be there.

devon - at least you have the excuse of having to arrange Thanksgiving beforehand.

queenie - the party was lovely and my friend had a great time, thanks.

liane - I'm getting back to normal now (as much as that's possible) and hopefully will start catching up with things.

flowerpot - thanks. The party was great fun.
