Happy New Year from the Pink Chair

Happy New Year and Happy Quillers 4th Blog Takeover Day.

This is the'ancient'Pink Lloyd Loom chair that Her Ladyship sits on hour after hour in the shed as she taps away at her laptop.

I must admit that I find her use of the word 'ancient' when she describes me, as a little insulting. I may be between 60 to 80 years old, but I'd hardly call that 'ancient'. Cheek. I think I'm rather beautiful and I know she loves me to bits. After all, she did defend me when Rob was asking how a £27 chair she'd found on Ebay - that's me, I suppose - happened to cost nearly £80 to deliver it to Jersey. Personally, I can't see what his problem is and I doubt she could either by the way she was smiling at me as she spoke to him.

She sits here with that grumpy looking dog next to her and I can just tell by the way he looks at me through those narrowed eyes that he'd rather sit on me than the plastic white chair she covers with a towel for him.

She's a little later than usual today, but I heard her mumble something about staying up until nearly 4am to watch the two final episodes of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, whatever that may be. She's quieter than normal too, so maybe I won't hear her reading out odd extracts of pages she's been writing, or mumbling to herself.

There she goes, off to make another cup of tea, I suppose, and thankfully she's taking that miserable looking dog with her.

I love to read what peoples' furniture says about them. And now I want a Lloyds Loom Chair for my shed!

Brill, Debs! xxx

xandra - he is, but he can't help it. Most of the time he's happy, I think.

madeleine - Happy New Year to you too. I'm glad you enjoyed resting in the chair for a bit.

quillers - it's very comfortable, I'm sure one would be perfect for your shed. x

Such a happy new year to you all!! I'd certainly pay 80 quid for the right seat to be delivered, so Pink Chair, you're tops in my book!

I thought dogs owned all chairs - am I wrong?

You are a very beautiful chair, and I am quite jealous of Debs for having you.

Happy New Year to you, Pink Chair - and to Her Ladyship, too! I don't think you're ancient at all, and you certainly don't look it, if I may say. At least, you only have to put up with a dog. I shudder to think what a cat would make of you. You'd be covered in scratches...

How dares she call you 'ancient'! You look lovely AND you look like a perfect Writer's Chair.
I hope she appreciates your sturdy but soft seat and these supportive armrests. Not easy to fall alseep, slip off or sneak out - ideal to keep the writer's (ehm) well anchored. I think I may try to get one like you.

anna - ah a woman after my own heart. I knew I was right to pay that amount to get it here, it was a necessity.

juliet - I think you're probably right, and that's probably why he always looks so grumpy.

sue - it is surprisingly comfy. Probably too comfy as I rarely want to get up from it.

gran - thanks, same to you, I hope it's a great year.

helen - when I spotted it on ebay I just knew I had to have it.

kath - I hadn't thought of that. Cats claws...so sharp.

scribocin - this is brilliant at keeping the writer in situ. Nothing works better.

liane - thanks and the same to you.

boonie - thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

michelle - hello to you too. x
Glad you like the chair, it is rather gorgeous, isn't it?

laurie said...

that is a *beautiful* chair, and too bad the shipping cost way more than the chair, but in the end 100 pounds isn't bad for a stately and dignified and comfortable and oh-so-pink chair.

The pink chair has a lot to say. Very interesting Debs. Well done!

Shirley Wells said...

A beautiful chair and well worth the money to get it delivered. Just perfect for the shed. Mind you, I'm surprised Grumps hasn't made it his own... :)

Debs said...

laurie - stately and dignified are two perfect words to describe my beloved chair. The rest of the family can't see the attraction, but I do love it to bits.

gaelikaa - it certainly does, thanks.

shirley - glad you think so, I love it too. Grumps would take it over given half a chance, but I've managed to keep him off so far.

Your chair is gorgeous and in much better condition than mine. I have a Lloyd Loom nursing chair and matching linen basket that my parents bought when I was born. Unfortunately my dad sprayed them gold years ago and they are really tatty.

Pink Chair

If the dog needs a towel on a white plastic chair just watch out if he ever does get to sit on you.

Nice to see such a loving relationship between a chair and her writer.

annieye - how wonderful to have a chair that your parents bought when you were born. I'd love to have something with such sentimental value.

kirsty - thanks, I love the chair and no one, even the dog, sits on it apart from me. So far, that is...

Between 60 and 80 is the new 30 -40, Debs. Love the chair. Happy writing and Happy new year!

leigh - I love your thinking! Happy writing and Happy New Year to you too.

Hello - have to admit to being a bit envious of your chair and lovely plotting shed! I have to write wherever I can find a spot among the bills, crayons, discarded tissues and yoghurt pot lids - it can be a messy business! ;-) Happy New Year!

Faye said...

Can't help noticing that the "guest blogger" is a bit threadbare at the edge. Does that mean that the writer in residence often gets so excited plotting that she's on the edge of her seat? Your post clears up something. I thought the shed was closed for the winter leaving you all alone? Not true?

Fab post.

Arriving late but wishing you all the best for 2011.

Happy new year
to you and your chair

Debs Carr said...

ella - thanks, I love the shed, but then my family love it too as it keeps all my writing paraphernalia out of the house.

faye - it was a little the worse for wear when I bought it. I write in the shed most of the time, but when we had snow it was just a little too cold to be out there.

suzanna - thanks and Happy New Year to you too.x

susie - many thanks.x

david - I love writing in the shed and when my pink chair arrived it seemed to be the final touch I needed in there.

Happy New Year to you too.
