Secret Lives

I've just finished The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd and what an incredible writer she is, and am now going to start The Secret Life of a Slummy Mummy by Fiona Neill. I've been looking forward to reading this for a while and once I've finished my 100 words, I shall poddle off to my room and start reading.

Today I had a lovely lunch with family at The Oyster Box Restaurant, a new restaurant run by the owners of the Jersey Pottery and based in St Brelade's Bay. I've been rushing around like a mad woman for days now and although I wasn't sure I could manage to fit in a lunch, it turned out to be an excellent idea and the children and I enjoyed it very much.

Later J and I spent two hours packing his rucksack. I ended up feeling like I'd done a workout at the gym. Okay, it has been years since I've actually walked into a gym so I probably don't have a clue what it really feels like but suffice to say that I'm now physically drained and relieved that we've finally managed to fit everything he needs into the damn thing. I also managed to put it on but nearly tipped over backwards and here was I bemoaning the weight of my handbag.

S and I have just watched Dr Who and I'm miserable that David Tenant is going to morph (or whatever it's called) into some other actor. Drat, I liked him too. I've set the machine to tape next week's episode in case I miss it.

Blimey, I've just seen the time and need to go and do my 100 words. Have a lovely weekend.

That restaurant looks gorgeous, I must visit Jersey very soon. Enjoy your leisurely weekend reading - it's my favourite time to catch up!

I really enjoyed The Secret Life of Bees too. It was quite a long time ago and my memory is sketchy ... maybe it's time to reread it.

Oh NOOOOOOOOO!!! I want David Tennant to stay as Dr Who forever. In fact I thought he was. Sniffle!!!

We're a bit behind down here, the Kylie Christmas episode is on tonight and I can't wait!!

What a gorgeous menu - definitely one to visit when I come back to visit the parentals.

Is David Tennant leaving Dr Who? I hope that Tate woman goes with him. Ugh. Love him, hate her. I really won't be able to bear it.

You're one lucky lady, what a great place to eat and all that sea and sand. Right time to get my rowing boat out I'm on my way to Jersey. Just need to pack my rucksack, give us a hand woman. TFX

My daughter informs me that David Tenant is staying. I hope she's right!

Glad you had a good lunch and glad the rucksack is done! x

I know, I can't believe it about David Tennant either! Last night's episode was really superb though wasn't it?

yvonne - it was lovely and the food was superb. You should come over, it's a great place most of the time.

jj - I doubt I could ever write as well as SMK even if I kept trying for decades.

christina phillips - I loved the Kylie episode. I can't believe DT is leaving, sob.

spiralskies - it is a lovely place to go and you can eat outside too.

I didn't think Catherine Tate was as bad as I had feared but she is the same as in her show, I didnt realize that she was actually like that.

tom foolery - get in that boat and start rowing. I'm a dab hand at rucksack packing and would happily assist if necessary.

lane - oooh I do hope your daughter is right, S and I would be thrilled if she was.

Editing going well.

helenmh - it was, I can't wait for next week.

I am reading 'The food taster' right now and enjoying it very much! Looking forward to hearing what you think of 'Slummy Mummy'(marvellous title) as it is one of those that I am dithering over reading.

I am so upset about Dr Who that I can't finish my toast. How could he leave us?

Slummy Mummy? Was that a column first?

katw - daughter has already been in the internet (as soon as episode was over) but found nothing.

dj kirkby - So far I'm not getting into it all that well but I shall persevere for a bit longer.

fiona - Sorry about your toast. I know, I was upset too.

Apparently it was a column first.

If you like 'Slummy Mummy,' I can highly recommend 'Mummy said the F-Word' by Fiona Gibson. Really funny.

Did you notice that something odd had happened to Rose's voice in Dr Who? Like she was breaking in a new set of teeth??

karen - I shall look that book up, I have heard of it but haven't bought it (yet).

I agree! I was wondering what was wrong with her speech, very strange.

SPOILERS! I think from pix showing David Tennant in the 2008 Christmas special that he will be around for another year at least. Don;t know how though!

Glad to see another blogger mentioning on Doctor Who
locally.

tonytheprof - I'm so relieved that he will still be around, I can't imagine anyone better to play the Doctor.
