Competition, Assignment & R's Birthday Gift

I was trying to upload one of my photos to this post but for some reason it wouldn't happen, so I thought I would try this pic as they've been advertising on tv that The Tudors will soon be returning and I simply can't wait.

My computer is driving me insane, in order to keep this trojan at bay the security settings have to be so high that I'm finding it nigh on impossible to get into my blog at all. Poor b-i-l is going to try and sort it out again this weekend and will probably go mad that I've faffed about with all the settings again. When I can manage to get into my blog, it will only allow me to get as far as other blog's Profile pages and not into the actual blogs themselves, so frustrating, grrrrr.

It was so hot here yesterday that I went swimming with S and even Grumpy came in with me twice. He seemed so much happier once he'd cooled down. He looks so funny when he's wet with his skinny little legs but does doggy paddle like an athlete. It's cloudier now but still very close and I'm looking forward to a great big thunderstorm. Knowing our weather we'll probably have a half-hearted shower instead.

I have finally finished my entry to the Jersey Arts Trust, Channel Islands Writer's Competition for 2008 and also my next assignment and shall send them off in the post tomorrow, now all I have to do is figure out what to get R for his birthday on Monday. Yes, I know I only have a couple of days left, well tomorrow actually but I've been shopping and can't find anything. I've asked him what he wants but all he'll say is, "Nothing, don't worry about it." This is not a helpful answer because I still need to get him something. Men can be such a pain.

Why are men so awkward. My brothers and my dad always say 'I don't want anything'. Oh they are so getting clothes from River Island then!

Nice pic of JRM by the way :)

lily - I know, it drives me nuts and I waste so much time trying to find the right present.

JRM is rather lovely, can't wait for the new series to start.

Well done on finishing your comp entry and assignment.

I like the picture on this post - that actor looks rather yummy and is enough to persuade me to watch!!!

Oooh - JRM - my favourite!!! Thank you! AND he was the inspiration for Rocky in Happy Birthday - had to spend all day for WEEKS gazing at JRM's photos - tough life being a writer...

If you can't find a suitable present why don't you give R a Treat Night? I do this for my R because he's useless to buy for so I make up a birthday stocking (like Christmas only not) with little presents - fave choc, smelly stuff, booze, book CD, DVD etc etc etc - and treat him to nice meal (either out or take-away in our case as I'm the worst cook in the world!) Wish him happy birthday from us anyway.

Jealous of you swimming - hurmph!!!

Congrats on finishing the writers comp too - you're a star.

Of course men are a pain. But we give you such interesting things to write about.

I hope your computers issues are solved soon.

I'm sending waves of sympathy to you and b-i-l over the PC. At least yours has some practical use, mine is only good at getting drunk (b-i-l, not PC). Don't ask about his Best Man speech.

Good hunting on the pressy front :-)

motherx - I don't think he would have been either, poor wives.

helenmh - thanks, it has been a complete pain. Grumps looks so cute swimming, bless him.

katw - thanks. To be honest he was the reason I started watching, so handsome.

chris - Oooh can't wait to read Happy Birthday. Poor you having to spend so long looking at someone so heavenly. What a perfect hero he makes too.

Love the Treat idea, thanks. I'm going to go and buy bits for him today. I've booked a meal for us in a couple of days, so I've covered that bit. Great stuff.

Swimming was so welcome especially as it wasn't too cold, I can't do cold water.

I'm sending the comp entry off this morning. x

chad aaron sayban - you certainly do and for that I am grateful, honestly.

tam - thankfully my b-i-l is a great chap, though he does tell me off when I mess about with all the settings especially as I don't have a clue how it all works.

I love The Tudors too - and I recently discovered that the prez of the RWAustralia, Anne Gracie, wrote the novelisation of the TV series script. I'm going to hunt that one down!!

dj kirkby - it is so frustrating, isn't it? Driving me mad. Hope yours is sorted too.

christina phillips - I can't wait till friday when they're back on TV. I didn't know that (about AG) how wonderful.

Well done on finishing your entry to the Jersey Arts Trust...will keep my fingers crossed for you!!

Chris is awful to buy for but I discovered a great website
www.firebox.com and have got him a few things from there that I've not seen anywhere else. Might be worth a look if not for this time then perhaps the next

Ps. Loved Chris's suggestion of a stocking...might try that for my Chris's next birthday
