You Have To Smile When...

even after a tedious day of constant criticism, and unfair treatment by a senior member of staff, I arrived home, feeling rather deflated to find this (see pic).

Grumpy was trying to fit his rather large bottom into a new bed bought for him at Christmas by Grandma, who didn't realize that he is as big as he is. (He is supposed to be 'miniature' after all!).

It did cheer me up, and now I'm going to ensure that my mood stays that way, and go and eat chocolate and pour myself a glass of rose.

Hugs Debs, that's awful. I hope you're well stuck into the chocolate and wine now and feeling better.

Grumpy is so cute there! You should sell "Grumpy" calendars, they'd be snapped up in no time!

He he, what a name! bless him.
my cat used to try and squeeze into the gap by the side of the fire but she was clearly too big. so fuuny.
Glad he was there in his oversized state to cheer you up.
I'll join you in that Rose, sounds nice.

Does Grumpy's bum look big in that? It surely does! (shhh! Don't tell him I said that!). Karma to those at work who gave you a bad day today - You're home now.

I think Grumpy squashed into that bed just to cheer you up. He'd probably been sitting there all afternoon waiting:-)

Hope tomorrow is better m'dear.

Grumpy looks sooo cute.

Don't let Mr/Ms Management get you down too much Debs. Just remember every dog has it's day. ((HUG)) TFx

Poor Grumpy puppy. Maybe he had a bad day too. Sorry you are having a time of it lately. I know how that feels. Well, eat lots of chocolate and wine and feel better, just not guilty for doing it. K.

I had the boss from hell once, not nice. Deep breaths. One day you will be a profesional writer (unlike me) and you can quit!

Oh cover your ears, Grumpy. Your bottom does not look big in that.

Pets are the best. I wake up every morning to quadrophonic purring - you can't beat it!

Is it just me or does he look far from impressed with his new bed?

Good old Grump - nothing like our dogs to cheer us up. Hope work improves soon Debs

Thanks for the lovely comments. I had my Annual Appraisal today and said my piece. Thankfully, I think everything will be okay, for now, at least.

Poor Grumps, I think the bed will have to be given to a smaller dog, or at least, one with a smaller bottom.

I managed to misread that as pouring chocolate into a glass and... what's the visual equivalent of your ears pricking up?! That, anyway :)

Mmmm... chocolate... I might have to make hot choc now!

Glad you're feeling better now.

B - Mmm, liquid chocolate, sounds heavenly.

Sorry you had a bad day debs! what a drag. Hope you thought lots of evil things about the person!! Wine and chocolate sounds like a great idea and a good sleep or some great writing Im sure will cheer you up! x

From the look on that face I think Grumpy wants Grandma to see how squeezed he is in his new bed as in "I appreciate the thought Grandma, but I'm a big boy now."

Sorry you're getting the proverbial leg peed on by an impossible supervisor. It's so hard because much as you try not to let things matter, they do. Read through your previous posts though and it seems like writing/editing is going well--good for you.

Debs - coming in a bit late here - still deep in deadline hell and getting nowhere - but just wanted to say so sorry about work and your boss is a bully - and I hate bullys! Just remember - if it's a bloke he probably fancies you and knows you have the deeply gorgeous R and are therefore unattainable, and if it's a woman then she's jealous of you because you're blonde, bubbly and beautiful.
And Grumpy made me laugh - and laughing is a bit of a rarity here at the moment - so thank you.

That's so funny :o) I'm having a bit of a problem squeezing my bottom into things at the moment too...

Hope you're feeling better now - horrid staff member :o(

motherx - I feel much better now. Had a meeting with her and bits have been resolved!

faye - I think grandma forgot he's bigger than he should be.

Work just makes me keep focusing on my writing!

chris - you always say the loveliest things. It's a 'she' and I don't think she liked me from the first time we met. I think she prefers having younger staff below her.

karen - I know that feeling too.

I'll just have to keep working on my writing and hope I end up writing something ultra brilliant! Well, I can dream.

It is against the law to bully in the workplace. I have a poster at work (in the library) about it, I will check the details, Are you in a union?

Deborah Carr (Debs) said...

cait - thanks for your lovely comment. I don't have a union, unfortunately, but since having a meeting with this woman, things seem a little better.
