Lazing On A Sunday

Having felt a little downcast at the distinct lack of colour in my garden, I asked my husband to buy some Primroses so that I could plant them today in an effort to make the place look a little more Spring-like. He happily obliged, returning from his shopping spree with 30 plants - rather more than I had anticipated - and looking very pleased with my intention to do a little unexpected gardening.

Today, however, having opened the front door - yes, that was as far as I managed to get - and feeling how damn cold it was out there, despite the sun, I decided that the garden's loss would be my gain, and have spent a relaxing day reading in the conservatory, recovering from spending far too many £££s whilst clothes shopping for my daughter yesterday.

She has a sore throat, which I noticed didn't seem to hinder the amount of carrier bags she managed to carry to my car yesterday, before going to meet her friends for the afternoon. Mind you, she doesn't look or sound very well at all, so I'm not sure whether it's a good or bad thing that she starts three weeks work experience working in a pharmacy for Project Trident tomorrow morning.

That's a wonderful pic of doggie in the sun! Sorry you didn't get to plant flowers. And I hope daughter gets well quick.

Have a great day, Debs.

Sending you some tropical heat - of which we're having far too much!

Yes I resisted gardening today even though the sun was tempting the temperature was freezing. If I had a conservatory I would love to read there in the sunshine.

Having the sunshine is so inviting - however I forget it is March too. The flowers sound beautiful - though you had the ideal Sunday afternoon in my book.
Enjoy

It'll be many weeks before we start planting here. Enjoy your primroses, eventually!

I love primroses and these days always miss the season. Hope the weather warms up so you can get them in.

Primroses are just what the doctor ordered for these late winter-early spring days. They come in such lovely primary colors. And of course your daughter could carry a lot of shopping bags! According to my friend Ruth Ann, sharply dressed women do not get cold. I imagine they don't need help either with shopping loot, even when not feeling well,

What a cute doggy photo. I hope your daughter's throat gets better soon.

Am currently enjoying lazing in the sun myself at the mo, but it's still freezing outside. Primroses are a lovely idea, my garden could do with some colour too but I suspect it's not going to happen! Hope you're feeling more motivated and get to admire them soon.

My husband bought three geraniums and an apricot tree over the weekend, and while the tree's no more than a stick, the geraniums are pink and so pretty!

We saw it was 23 F in York last night, brrrr!!! I don't blame you a bit for staying inside...

Reading in the conservatory was a good move - the light & warmth of the sun without the cold chill. Maybe you could plant the primroses in pots inside your conservatory???

Hope your daughter feels better & her first day of work experience has gone well.

Grumpy's got the right idea in his little patch of sun.

Hope your daughter is feeling better - it would be rotten to start work experience feeling poorly.

Oh no! The shopping didn't cure her sore throat? She's going to be run down and picking up everyone else's germs that they bring into the pharmacy. Poor girl...you'll have to take her shopping next weekend too! I think I need to follow in your footsteps and buys some flowering plants for the garden and make sure that I do plant them too. Maybe on Mother's day, that would be a lovely way to spend the day....

It is surprisingly cold despite the sunshine.

Hope your daughter's feeling better, though a pharmacy's probably the right place to be working if she's not!

I hope your daughter's feeling better. If my daughter's are anything to go by, shopping helps.

helen - she's almost lost her voice. Great for me, although not so good for her.

kaye - thanks. He loves lazing in the conservatory and watching everything going on outside.

liane - ooh, thank you. I can't think of anything nicer than some warm sunshine.

cait - it's so frustrating looking at such a messy garden, but hopefully I'll get out there soon and tidy everything up a bit.

michelle - it was a lovely, relaxing day.

joanne - thanks. I can't wait to get them in the garden and hope that I don't manage to kill them before doing so.

liz - they are so pretty. I'm really looking forward to planting them.

faye - I think your friend, Ruth Ann knows what she's talking about. Women and shopping is the perfect way to forget everything else.

jean - thanks very much. She's on the mend now thankfully and not so grumpy.

denise - I hope so too. I could do with sorting this garden out a bit.

anna - I adore geraniums. We have some in pots, but they're a little ungainly at the moment. Hopefully with the warmer weather they'll perk up again.

kat - now, why didn't I think of that. I'll definately put some inside. It'll look lovely with more colour.

She was very bored at work and missed the breaks she usually has at school.

lane - he's a clever little devil and knows all the places to catch the best rays.

She did very well considering she felt so grim, but thankfully is a little better today.

dj kirkby - I think she's spending as much time as possible running errands or counting imaginery stock behind the shop!

Great idea about Mothers' Day, I'll have to save my flowers for then, if it's any warmer.

karen - she thought I was mad when I bought her some cough mixture from Boots and said she could have bought it from the pharmacy herself!

leigh - thanks. She would definately agree with your daughters. Shopping always helps Sas to feel better. Such a true girl.
