Every year I'm saddened by thoughts of all of the casualties from past and present wars and this year, as I research The Great War for my wip, I find it even harder to imagine the horrors and difficulties the survivors have had to overcome.
The Royal British Legion, St Dunstans, and others do such wonderful work and as I was lucky enough to have one of my poppies attached to my coat by a charming Chelsea Pensioner the other day, I couldn't help thinking how much we owe to these incredible men and woman.

It is very important that we never forget what those brave souls did and went through, nor the ones who today sacrice so much to keep us as safe as possible. Last year our nephew ironed his poppy to make sure it was perfect as he had the honour of carrying the flag at Remembrance Sunday, in Lowstoft. He was the first cadet every to have had the honour. Today he is at Welbeck begining his training to be an officer.
Thanks for the reminder, Debs. It's really easy to forget the sacrifice these days - but so important to remember.

lane - I felt very privileged indeed.
We observe Veteran's Day in the U.S. but, as with other days of remembrance and celebration, our day has become pretty commercial and political. I think you all have kept more to the spirit of honoring veterans and their contributions.
faye - how strange that something like this can become commercial. I'm glad so many people take remembrance so seriously.
