It's been a hectic week, which began with me having to get up at 5am on Monday to catch the red-eye to London for the day. I usually get up at 6am, so you'd think that one hour earlier wouldn't make much difference, but I was a little bleary-eyed when I arrived home at 8.35pm and not impressed when my son phoned 'for a chat' at 11.15pm. Bless him.
Today I took three colleagues for a whirlwind tour of the beaches on the western side of the island and also showed them some of places where I take the dog for walks. They seemed to enjoy their brief tour and took many photos of the small bays and the larger beaches overlooking the other islands.
This tree fern is in Val de la Mare, a resevoir down the road from my home and somewhere where joggers like to run and where I occasionally walk Divadog. It's so peaceful and very beautiful.
Can you tell I'm in a chirpy mood? It's all down to the glorious weather and I'm hoping that now we've seen a little bit of sunshine summer is on its way. It's amazing how much happier people seem to be when the sun is shining. Especially me!

Early flights are no fun. It seems to throw off the entire day.
I think summer has hit early here - we've had high temperatures and lots of sunny days.
Love that pic. I'm sure the sun has magic in it :-)
That looks so lovely!

I'm impressed you usually get up at 6am, Debs! My husband does too, but I need another hour or so.
Jersey is one of my favourite destinations - definitely want to get back there soon.
I'm yawning just imagining 5am. Far too early for me!
Divadog, hee hee!
Summer is my favourite time of year, so I know that feeling! Lovely photograph...
Thanks ladies. London was great, but getting up at that time was not such fun. x
Nice weather makes me more cheerful. At least I think so - it's getting hard to remember.
If it's not too much of a daft question, why do you get up so early? Is it really necessary?
Margaret P
Patsy - lol, I know what you mean.
Galant - I start work at 8 and get up at 6am so that I can wake up reasonably well before taling my daqughter to the bus and go on to work. Im not a morning person :0)
That is such a lush photo...I could look at it for hours. How long did the 'chat' with your son last?
Dj - glad you like the photo. The chat lasted about ten minutes then we were cut off because his phone broke, apparently. Lol!
I bet you are so glad to get back to Jersey after spending a day in London. There couldn't be much more of a contrast!
The fern is lovely, and I can just imagine how beautiful the beach and reservoir are in the spring sunshine. I wish the sun would start to shine here, too. It still seems like winter in Northamptonshire.
Annieye - it was rather a contrast, but I love to go to London, so much to see.
Here's to hot sunny weather, I hope it's on it's way to us soon.
5am....
So true about the weather, Debs - unfortunately we're shrouded in sea mist today!
You do sound energized, Debs. There are people who thrive on summer. Not for me but try not to spoil the sun worshippers' moods with my grumbling.
Your island sounds like the perfect place to celebrate summer. Enjoy!
I'm an early riser, but 5am is unthinkable - especially when there's a busy day ahead.

Oooh, I don't like getting up early either! Never been to Jersey, but do feel I know it well thanks to the Bergerac series (or perhaps not?). Nice piccie of the fern.
chris - I'm definitely not and early bird. I love it when I do wake early on a beautiful morning and don't have to go anywhere and can stay at home and enjoy it.
faye - It's a wonderful place in the summer and I can't understand why people go FROM here on holiday then.
suzanne - I have to agree, lol.
biddy - I enjoy watching Bergerac when it's on because it does show so much of the island. Unfortunately, quite a few of the places have changed since then, although some are for the better.
5 am? Yikes. People would know not to talk to me if I had to get up at that time. :)
Lovely picture!
Shirley - thanks.
I hope my last comment came up. I wasn't sure if there was a captcha, but if there was, I didn't do it. Just commiserating about the red eye flight, basically, and agreeing about the weather.
Jenny - thanks, I'm hopeless when I have to get up early.
