Christmas & Battle of Britain Air Display

Today has been one of those blurgh days where I don't really know what I'm doing or even the actual day of the week (never mind the flippin' date, that would be asking far too much of me).

I was working my way through an endless form this morning, having sent a sneaky email to a friend, when at lunch time as I checked my personal emails, I realized that I'd sent it to my home email, rather than to her. Duh. No wonder she hadn't replied.

To make matters worse, no one celebrated a birthday/leaving/getting married/engaged/babies etc and so there was a complete lack of sustenance in the chocolate/cake/goodie department.

Just to make sure all of us were completely fed up, our manager sent an email checking which ones of us wanted time off over Christmas. CHRISTMAS. We haven't had a damn summer yet. Well, if we did, then I certainly missed it.

I shouldn't moan, I've got half day on Thursday as it's Battle of Britain day and we have an excellent air display along the south coast. Mind you, it's so small here that wherever you are you'll certainly see something of the Red Arrows, B52, B17 or various others. I love watching it and you can't help feeling at least a little nostalgic.

Christmas! Blinkin' hell. Is it too early to bake my christmas cake? (I jest, alas I don't do baking as a rule :) TFx

That is a great Air Display programme they have lined up for you. You'll enjoy the Vulcan, newly restored for 2008, although the pilot now treats it very gently. I've seen the Red Arrows four times this year - they have an excellent routine.

I think your boss is wise to get everyone thinking about their Christmas plans early - it comes round quicker than you expect. It's in November this year (sorry, being silly now).

Well I hope having Christmas Day and Boxing Day off is a given! (Just typing that 'C' word makes me feel a bit funny:-(

Hope tomorrow is not so blurgh and I'm envious of the air display. They are always so inspiring.

ps love the Grumpy photo:-)

Can we all stop mentioning the C word. It's not right!

It's just not fair! The three consecutive days of summer in Northamptonshire coincided with my week in Wales - where it chucked it down! I'd love to see the air display.

I'm still ogling Gerard Butler in your last post. What was this post about again? Christmas? LOL.

The chocolate/cake/goodie department never requires a reason in my world. Just have at it. ;-)

I've just spent ages catching up on your past posts (we've had internet and power problems) and I have to say that I just love coming to your blog. You write beautifully and always have pictures of divine men....killer combo!!

Ps. Please don't mention the C word again....we're currently shopping for last years presents to bring with us when we come in a couple of weeks....

The red arrows always lift the spirits dont they? We've got Tall Ships arriving here over the next few days and they do too!

tom foolery - I hate to admit this but I've (well two of the youngsters) have already made our Christmas cake).

east anglian troy - We have a euro fighter (?) practicing outside at the moment and every so often people keep wandering over to the windows to have a look.

lane - yes we do get both those days off, thankfully.

I love the air display, makes me think (I was going to say 'back to the war' but I wasn't born then).

G looks like he's having a major moan, doesn't he?

helenmh - sorry, Helen, it is a bit depressing, isn't it?

annieye - that really is so unfair, missing what little decent weather we had.

The air display is wonderful.

helen hardt - dont blame you, he is heavenly. Can't wait to see RocknRolla.

chad - I did have to buy a chocolate today. I say that as if it's unusual!

carol & chris - thanks, that's so kind of you to say such lovely things.

Oh no, you're a year behind, what a nightmare. My step-mother already has hers for this year (had them for months apparently).

flowerpot - R would love to see the tall ships. Mind you, so would I.

"I don't really know what I'm doing or what day of the week it is..." You mean this isn't what life is always like? !

leigh russell - well, for me it usually is, but I like to pretend sometimes that I'm actually a bit more 'with it' than I truly am. :)

Oh Debs! I'd love to see the air show. (Bet you can't guess why!)

I am still in awe over how resilient and absolutely brave the British were during WW2. My hat is off to you all.

Sorry to hear you've had a Hhnfff day. And blooming christmas(!?!)don't all the staff get time off then! I know how you feel we have started selling christmas cards for those freaky peeps who buy them september!

melissa marsh - I can imagine that you would love it. We also celebrate Liberation Day over here on 9 May each year as that is when the island was liberated from the Germans.

tam - now that is frightening, I can see my life flying by.

kerry - they get Christmas and Boxing Day but apart from that we have to request time off and most of us want it at the same time so it can be difficult.
