Chocolate Overload & Word Counts

Well, after going without chocolate for so many weeks, I think I've pretty much made up for it since Sunday. I've also been sitting here tapping away and have increased my word count from 11790 to 20500 in the past three days. All I want to do is work on my WiP. Unfortunately though I also have to study for an hour or so each day, otherwise I'm never going to pass this exam and the thought of having to pay to resit the thing is enough of an incentive to keep me going.

So far it's been a great week off work and apart from writing in the shed, I've been taking Grumps for walks on the beach and going out for several meals with the family, with more still to follow as it's my birthday on Friday.

It's probably just as well that I'm back to work next week, otherwise all this sitting around and eating is going to lead to me getting a 'writer's bottom' sooner rather than later.

Hi Deb,
I hope you had a great easter. Is that a new chair I see in your she? I just love your writing room/shed. I've told so many people about it. Since seeing your shed I've also done my office up a bit. It's a lot more cosy now.

Suzanne :)

Oh you have a new nickname over here, The shed lady. :)

suzanne - I like being known as the Shed Lady, although I'm sure people must think I'm a little strange to spend so much time sitting in one.

I bought the chair last summer and love it. It's quite battered and worn, but so comfortable.

Great news on your word count! Glad you're having such a good time.

Fabulous job on the word count! Hurrah! I can't wait to get back to my novel, either. My characters are whispering!

And you can never have chocolate overload... ;-)

Well done on the word count. I've been good with the choc this easter. I went a bit crazy last year and felt rather ill for a few days.

I love your pink chair. Happy writing.

Congrats on the word count, always fun! And if you have leftover chocolate, just hook up a usb cable and send it my way ;)

I love it when that happens, when I can't stop writing and the word count keeps going higher and higher. As for chocolate, it's my great weakness. I can't go three days without it. It's a disease, I know.

Wow Debs, what a great word count. Well done to you. Perhaps it's the chocolate fuel?

If chocolate boosts the word count, I'd say go for it. Anyway nothing worse than stale chocolate. Worry about writer's bottom when you're back at work.

What are you and Grumpy seeing on your beach walks at this time of the year?

I keep forgetting we share the same birthday! Have a brilliant one.

Ooh, I have chair envy! Sounds like a wonderful week off.

All that walking on the beach will fend off the dreaded writer's bottom, and you do have 6 weeks worth of chocolate to catch up on...

There is something so very satisfying when you see the word count going up and up - keep going and well done.
Chocolate is brain fuel - hence all the words!!

queenie - I'm loving it and wish I could have more weeks like this.

melissa - glad to hear that about the chocolate.

I love it when my characters are conversing so well with me.

lilys - thanks.

I know what you mean, I did the same last year too.

helen - it is rather gorgeous, isn't it?

joanne - I would, but can't see me having any left over chocolate. If I did, it would be a first.

kareng - maybe there's something that connects writers and chocoholics?

jj - maybe it is. I like this idea.

faye - that sounds like a good idea to me.

G and I are collecting a lot of driftwood at the moment, which I love and keep drying and putting in the shed. Lots of waves and surfers doing their thing too.

liz - thanks, m'dear. Hope you have a wonderful birthday too.x

denise - that is a good point. I have been very good for the past 6 weeks and deserve a little (cough, cough) chocolate.

michelle - it does feel good. Thanks.x

annieye - I'm having a lovely time this week. Chocolate and lots of writing time in the shed, bliss.

kaye - many thanks. I'm having a fab time.

lane - thanks m'dear.

Isn't it gorgeous? I couldn't resist it and had to buy it. Was a nightmare to get it to Jsy though, & more than doubled the cost!

I'd say that it was definitely proof that chocolate is good for you & very necessary for us writers! :-)

Glad the WIP is going well & that you've had a good week.

PS There's an award for you over at my blog.

kat - I think chocolate must be the secret incredient that gets the imagination flowing.

suzanne - thanks for the birthday wishes and for my gorgeous award. I shall post about it forthwith.x

On the bright side Writer's Bottom very good for anchorage to Writer's Chair though... not that you need to be anchored - you're going great guns.
(Hugs on the revision - my last piece of OU work is on the horizon and will be relieved now when that's out the way!).

Great news on the word count Debs! What;s a bit of chocolate between friends, eh?

Deborah Carr (Debs) said...

phillipa - thanks, but I think I've overdone it a little - the chocolate that is.

chris - I like the idea of being anchored to my writer's chair, so comfy if nothing else.

Sympathies re your OU course. I wish I didn't have to take this flippin' exam, writing is so much more interesting.

flowerpot - lol. So true.

I hope you had a great birthday yesterday! Sorry I'm wishing you a belated happy birthday but as you know, life Chez Aspie has been more hectic than usual! Pleased to see you put last week to good use and good luck with the exam. I'm looking forward to finishing my Uni course too so I can get back to work on my novels. I don't know how you manage to work, study and write, I can't do it all at the same time.x

Deborah Carr (Debs) said...

dj kirkby - thanks very much, it was a lovely day.

I hope Werecat if improving and don't envy you having to inject him. I know Grumps would fight tooth and nail if I went near him with anything at all.

Good luck with your uni course. I'll be glad when my exam is over in July and I can forget about it once more.
