Footprints in the Snow

The shed is out there somewhere...

Well, the schools are closed and buses aren't running and I've got to try and find a way to get into work, as apart from the fact that we (in Jersey) tend to grind to a standstill if we see the mere hint of more than a dozen or so snowflakes, the only way to get into St Helier (where most of us work) from where I live, is down one of a choice of hills. Then there's the fun of getting home again afterwards.

My garden has been white, and I have to say very pretty, since last Friday, which is amazing for over here and it's lovely as long as you don't need to navigate these roads, but at least I can be grateful for having an inside bathroom. Poor Grumps has to go outside to conduct his ablutions and then go through the trauma of having his feet dried when he comes back inside again. Poor Him.

P.S. I didn't make it in to work and have spent the day mostly staying on the inside looking out.

Awh poor Grumps. Borage and Tarragon have an ensuite litter tray facilities indoors!
It's only been snowing here since last night. I feel uncharacteristically Christmassy! However, I'm a hibernating creature by nature and hate the cold. Hope you get to work safely. :O)

Must be unusual to see that much snow there, but it doesn't sound as if Grumps is seeing the best side of it (I hate a cold bathroom too, so I'm with him!). Poor thing!

Very pretty :)
Poor Grumps.
Stay warm!

The snow is so pretty. We had some but it went. Meanwhile 10 miles down the road they've got loads. Cornwall has such a weird weather system.

Poor Grumps, that is tough going for the little chap.

Poor Grumps, our two would have no idea how to cope, the most they see is the odd shower of rain! Loved your pics. Hope the journey to and from work turns out ok! Keep safe and warm. Hugs x

Just reading about your unusual cold weather and snowfall in today's news. Makes you wish you could work from home, I'm sure. Too bad it didn't come nearer the weekend so you could have a "snowed-in". Apologies to Grumps for even suggesting such a thing. :-)

madeleine - thanks, I didn't get into work in the end and apart from helping my daughter finish her snowman have taken some photos and spent the time inside.

chris - I hate the cold and am so relieved I could spend most of today inside looking out at it.

casdok - I know, poor him. Thanks, will do.

kat - every time he goes outside I have to spend ages trying to get the clumps of snow from his socks.

pauline - it's fun, but only for a day or so. We're forecast rain all next week.

faye - I did end up being snowed in, and it was lovely to look out at the beautiful scenery.

Oh, how I remember the chaos of Jersey snow... it bring everything to a grinding halt but hey, it's so rare, it's only right that everyone stops to enjoy it. Must be a bit nippy in the shed though?!

Those pictures look magical, especially the second one :o)

We've got off quite lightly so far, though it's absolutely freezing here, but I think we had more than our share back in January!

jen - it's so cold at the moment, but very beautiful. Town has no snow, but here in St Ouens everything is white. Lovely.

karen - thanks, that was taken at 6am this morning and it snowed all day after that, so there's far more now.

Since we left, it has snowed more in Britain than in all the eleven years we lived there. To be honest, I'm glad, as I never had snow as a kid, and while it is stunning to see in photographs, I'd be just like Grumps, quite displeased. All those winters in the UK make me wish for more rain, but as for the white stuff... Brrrr!!!

Hope you had a lovely day indoors!!

The snow looks lovely.

All the best, Boonie

Does Grumps not like playing in the snow? Molls goes bonkers in it! Does look very pretty though you're probably sick of it by now...

I can't believe how much snow you are getting over there! We have hardly had any and that is pretty rare in Nebraska this time of year. I'm hoping for some soon, though. It really helps with the Christmas spirit!

Gosh, Debs, snow in Jersey. How pretty, but how awkward.

Poor grumps. The indignity.

I bet he had a good with you though, on the inside, looking out:-)

anna - We didn't seem to really get snow for years, but the last few it's got worse and worse.

boonie - it does, but I'd rather it was summer.

flowerpot - he loves it, but hates having to stand still whilst I try to get the snowballs from his legs and chest.

melissa - it does. I must admit I feel more Christmassy this year thank I did last at this time. It is so pretty.

susie - very pretty, but we're fairly hopeless at driving in it over here. Well, I definitely am.

lane - it was perfect to be inside with the fire going and looking across at all that beautiful scenery.

Aw, poor Grumps.

Hope you manage to stay safe and warm - and if you do have to go out, take care.

I hope you have stayed safe and warm. My best to Grumps.

suzanne - he loves playing in the snow, it's having to get it off him afterwards that he hates so much.

gran - thanks and the same to you.

I walked into work on Thursday because my husband was home to look after N3S and on Friday I stayed home with him and worked via a remote link. Love working from home, wish I could do it all the time :)

Gorgeous photos, Debs! We had a small dusting in central London - nothing like your photos at all!

Troy said...

Looking at the footprints in your photo, you've obviously had several nanometres of snow. No wonder the whole place ground to a halt!

Deborah Carr (Debs) said...

dj kirkby - me too, I'd love to be able to work from home.

talli - thanks, it was so much more than we every usually get and great fun, for a short while at lease.

troy - *giggling* we had about 6 inches in the end, that picture was taken at 6am and it snowed for two days after that.

can't believe even you have snow... enjoy. p x

Looks very pretty:) I'm sure you will get fed up with it soon though. Our cats are not silly and haven't moved from the radiator!

Deborah Carr (Debs) said...

phillipa - neither could we and everything ground to a halt almost immediately.

motherx - no wonder they say cats are so intelligent.

I didn't think Jersey ever had snow! It must be a novelty, hope you are not as cold as Wales though.

Deborah Carr (Debs) said...

cait - it rarely gets any snow and is a great novelty. Unfortunately the entire island pretty much grinds to a halt though.
