May Already & I've Burnt My Thumb

I love May with the garden starting to blossom and all these bank holidays to enjoy.

We have an extra Monday off this year as we celebrate Liberation Day on 9th May, so the flags will be hoisted again, in my garden too, and hopefully the weather will stay sunny and warm on all these long weekends.

As I mentioned, I've burnt my left thumb. Not badly, but being a little dopey, I accidentally touched the hot hob. I won't do that again in a hurry, hopefully.

I've been reading my mss outloud in the shed. Either Grumps doesn't understand a word I'm saying, or it's incredibly dull, because he's been snoring for most of the time. I suppose it could be worse, he could be pestering me to let him out.

My daughter is revising for GCSE's, in between enjoying her social life, and is back to school on 3rd for a few weeks before being allowed off for study-leave.

Ouch, I think I need to run this damn thumb under the tap again...

I think all writers need an aloe vera plant, Debs. The juice from the leaves soothes burns and cuts we get when our mind is on the WIP and made into a drink is 'said to be' good for hangovers. OK, someone pass the G&T and I might, in the name of research, see if that last one is true.

Grumps looks great and I'm sure he enjoyed your novel.

Hope the thumb feels better soon.

So easy to do yourself in when distracted. You were probably woodshedding your manuscript mentally instead of tending the stove. Grumpy is the perfect lawn ornament!

Promised some FB friends to ask my UK blog buddies if there's going to be a special collection/recording of the royal wedding music. Heard any rumors of this?

If you have any essential oil of lavender, dab some neat onto the burn. It may sting at first but will ease the pain within a few hours, and prevents blistering if applied early enough. We always have a bottle on hand in our house, even my partner uses it (although he complains that it makes him smell like an old lady!).

talli - it's much better now, thanks

bernadette - lol, that made me laugh and wince at the same time. Hope you're finger is much better now.

pat - I did have some aloe vera plants a couple of years ago and managed to kill them, which wasn't very clever. I must make a note to get more.

lucie - he's a grumbly little fellow, but very handsome.

Looking forward to Liberation Day, it's always sunny, or so they say.

faye - you're probably right, my mind is always in a book of some sort.

I've no idea about the music, but I'll try and see if I can find anything out.

gran - I hope yours is better too now.

rosemary - I think you could be right. I wonder how many writers actually concentrate on what they're doing when they're in the middle of a book?

jen - good luck with your Biology GCSE.

My daughter's social life is definitely better than mine, that's for certain.

karen - he generally is :-)

queenie - good idea, I do have some somewere as my sister told me to use this. Must go and locate it.

pauline - he is rather adorable, isn't he?x
