The End

I've just typed 'The End' on my historical romance which at 124,000+ words is too long, but with editing I'm sure I'll bring it safely within the 120,000 word limit for the RNA NWS. I still have to edit before sending it off hopefully in early August, but for now I'm thrilled.

I've loved writing this book. It's set in WW1 and follows the harrowing experiences, passion and betrayal of four characters, two men and two women, whose lives are unavoidably interlinked and ultimately altered forever.

I'm going to go and have a glass of wine now to celebrate and will be taking a couple of days off to read and get used to the idea that I've finished the first draft.

This picture of the moon above hydrangeas growing over nextdoors wall was taking a couple of nights ago.

Have a lovely weekend. x

Well done Debs! Sounds like a great novel - exactly the sort of thing I love to read. Very best of luck with it.

Wow! Congrats on finishing "the novel". Now the hard work (IMHO)- edit hell - well it is for me anyway! Caroline x p.s are you sure that was a hydranger? Top LHS of the picci looks remarkably like one of those aliens from "Independance Day". Only saying...that's all ;o)

What a lovely time to be able to write "the end"--16 days of holiday left to just go where the whim takes you. I'm getting comfortable with ordering from the UK book depository so will look forward to reading a favorite blog friend's new offering. The subject matter is a winner to begin with.

Whow well done Debs, you more than deserve your glass of wine. And I can't wait for it to be published...sounds very interesting!

I won't say congratulations just yet - that book has yet to be published - but I will say Jolly Well Done! And there is always the do-it-yourself Kindle path to tread, which Linda Gillard has done with House of Secrets although I do hope, with all fingers and toes well crossed, that the RNA NWS rates your novel and you have success with it! What relief to have typed THE END!
Love that photo of the moon above hydrangeas, an under-rated flowering shrub in my opinion.

Congratulations on typing those magic words!

I think it's great that you've loved writing the book. Usually, by the time I type The End, I hate everything about mine. :)

I hope you enjoy the glass(es) of wine.

Wonderful wonderful!! I've found while editing those words fall more easily than I imagined, so you should have no trouble dipping under 120K. Sounds like a fantastic story!!

Love that picture too... :)))

Thanks for the lovely comments. I'm in Paris at the moment with my aunt, so just having a quick peek at the internet and emailing husband and children who are at home. x

Huge congratulations! And guess what, you're right on the zeitgeist with a WWI story. At the RNA conference Sphere gave a talk (I didn't go, but heard about it) and they're currently looking for WWI, WWII and Roman novels for women. Hope you get a glowing report from the NWS :)

(Sorry not to catch up sooner - lots going on at Hotel H).
