NWS Report & 100 Words A Day

Today I received my RNA New Writers' Report in the post and can only be grateful to my Reader (no idea who it was) for the detailed comments, advice and encouragement.

I've read the report several times and have begun with the simpler corrections, repetition of words and quick amendments and when these are done I'll redraft the novel completely, taking into account the advice received. I've been advised to remove two of the smaller characters and can see why I this would be a good idea and rethink one or two things, but apparently, "I'm almost there."

I'm now over 30% of the way through S&S and am enjoying it much more than I was at the beginning. My problem will now be what to work on first, High Heels & Scandals or S&S? I love my hero in HH&S and will be thrilled to get back to him again. I've also received my next assignment and need to get a move on with that too.

Thankfully, I still have a week and a half of my holiday left and therefore more time than usual to spend writing. Unfortunately though, I seem to be getting through Midget Gems at a rate of knots, which is not at all good for my waistline. I should really find something with fewer calories to eat whilst working in the shed. I can't think of anything that will taste as good though.

How exciting to know you're almost there! Sounds like there's nothing you can't easily sort out :o)

I LOVE your title High Heels and Scandals by the way!
(Don't like Midget Gems m'self - I'm hooked on Murray Mints at the moment)

What a good report! Sounds like there's only a few tweaks and you'll be 'all the way there!'

I'm sure Midget Gems are easier on the waistline than Club biscuits. I've got to stop buying them:-)

That's sounds like a very positive report, Debs. Well done! Exciting to be at the stage of putting the finishing touches to the manuscript and getting it out there.

I love the title too. You've changed it recently, haven't you?

30% through the next novel too! Amazing. You put me to shame.

That sounds like a really positive report. I find Thornton's Special Collection chocolates a suitable alternative to Midget Gems. I don't know if that helps ...

karen - thanks, there is about two months work still to do on the book before it's closer to being 'there' as I have to rework the end a bit too.

lane - thanks, ooh Club biscuits, I love those.

maddie moon - I did change the title recently as I didn't like the other one. Glad to have positive feedback on that, thanks.

helenmh - they sound delicious but even worse for my waistline than MGs.

calistro - it was positive and I was thrilled to read that, but I still have loads more work to do on it yet I think.

carol - thanks, it was great to have suggestions as it helps point me in the right direction too rather than just telling me what's wrong with it.

tom foolery - strangely enough, I like the idea of carrots dipped in chocolate, then again, anything dipped in chocolate is fine by me.

yvonne - I am relieved and glad that you like the title too.

Well done - they don't write 'nearly there' lightly so all the hard work you've put in is really paying off.

annie bright - I must have been leaving my last comment when you were leaving yours and missed you out, sorry.

It was great to read, but having seen all the changes I'll still have to make, it doesn't feel almost there to me.

chrish - thanks, it would be lovely to actually get somewhere with it.

Wow, Debs, I can't believe I nearly missed this post by not being around on Wed. Jolly well done an' all. 'Nearly there' is bloody marvellous. Brilliant.
