Amo Sorrento

Rob and I had a blissful few days in Sorrento last week. We spent the time relaxing, walking (a lot), eating (too much), drinking and I spent rather a lot of time trying not to panic over the heights of various things, ie balconies, steps, etc.

This is the view I woke up to each morning.

This is the view from our balcony down to Marina Grande, one of those old-fashioned places that inspire countless stories.

I love it there and we'd go down in the morning and have a drink while watching the fishermen bringing in their catches.

We took the boat to Capri for the day on Saturday and took the funicular up the side of the mountain to the main town, which had the most incredible shops, Hermes, Roberto Cavalli, Prada, etc. We stopped for lunch and then had a drink in the main piazza. Needless to say I only window shopped in Capri.

Me outside the hotel gazing at Versuvius on the other side of the Bay of Naples.

As we knew we wouldn't be driving anywhere whilst on holiday, Rob hired Francesco Marrapese to collect us at the airport and take us to Sorrento and also for the return trip and if you ever need a driver for Sorrento I can heartily recommend him!

Ah, Debs, I was there...
Looks wonderful.

my best friend is married to an Italian.

Can you imagine listening to the passionate, romantic language being bandied across the table at breakfast time, (and...in the bedroom...)

ahhh... my cheeks are flushing...
xx

rach - it's so beautiful there, I could go again and again.

liane - the scenery is utterly breathtaking.

bluestocking mum - now that does sound heavenly! I adore listening to people speaking italian, even though I can't understand it. In fact, I told Rob that I may need to learn the language. Gorgeous.

Ah, yes, I love Sorrento, Debs, and much more of Italy. We had a quick visit to Capri and to Pompeii when we visited Sorrento from a cruise ship.

Hi Debs. Wonderful photos. Brings back memories. I was there in 2009 and will never forget it. What a place. We stayed on Anacapri too. We used to go down on the sunset-watching square in Capri to sip champagne and watch the wonderful colours. An amazing beautiful part of the world. So much story material! You're sure to come home inspired.

denise - your trip sounds amazing too. We had the odd glass (or three) of champagne on our balcony looking over the Bay of Naples. Bliss. I can't believe it was already one week ago.

anna - thank you. It is so breathtakingly beautiful over there, I can't wait to visit again.

It looks idyllic! I've never been there, although enjoyed Lake Garda and Venice. Will put it on my list of places to go when Troy Junior goes to university (another eight years).

Beautiful pictures. Thanks for sharing!

I love Capri and actually bought a dress there. (Have to whisper now in case DH is listening but a) it was terrifyingly expensive and b) I haven't ever worn it. It does look pretty in my wardrobe though...:))

shirley - glad you like the pic.

I loved Capri and think that as long as your dress looks gorgeous, it doesn't matter whether you wear it or not, you can still love it.
