Making Notes, Passport applications & ice-cream

I have decided to get organized and start making notes in one notepad rather than countless different ones. I have various pads for different manuscripts and then ones for ideas for titles, short stories, general information that I've gleaned from listening to folk chatting nearby but I don't have one main pad to keep the majority of my notes in. So with that in mind, I went to bed last night armed with pen and pink stripy Pukka pad (how I love them) and got writing.

Today I took two forms to the Passport Office in order to get new passports for ds and dd. I checked and rechecked the forms, photos, list of instructions, remembered their present passports and arrived at the Passport Office only to find that dd hadn't signed her form. Apparently as she is over 12 she has to sign and I missed this bit (though how after so much double, treble checking I'm not exactly sure). So I left ds' there as I need his more urgently than hers and tomorrow I shall go back once more. £74 for a passport for him and £45 for her!

The Dairy man arrived this afternoon bearing two tubs of ice-cream. One is banoffi flavoured - dd can't eat bananas so she won't be having any of that one and the other is dark chocolate with dark choc chunks. The only person in the house who truly loves dark chocolate is dh. So guess how popular I am. Unfortunately the other day when the chap asked which flavours he should bring us, I replied "Oh any, it doesn't matter." I stupidly thought that the choice would be strawberry, chocolate or vanilla! Opps.

Dark chocolate icecream with dark chocolate chunks works for me! I agree about the notebook thing. I find it much easier just to have one main one. Everything goes in there - and then I sort it all out afterwards. And given that my writing is so scatty, that can be a real challenge!

helenmh - I think you're right re the notebook. At least this way I can keep everything in one place. I'm always writing things down and then can't find which book they're in.

I'm a disorganised multi-notebook person. I have a small one in my handbag, one for each of my OU courses, several general ones and one for planning each major project...plus a few spares bought just because they were pretty!

cathy - I suppose we could be addicted to worse things than gorgeous notebooks. Pens too, I love them.

Dairy man was probably cheesed off, excuse the pun, with complaints hence you have the two most unpopular flavours imaginable!

One pad works for me - it has everything in it but I have started to worry in case I lose it.

Thats like me with the note books! I have so many gorgeous ones that I have bought and started my next BLOCKBUSTER in....only to put it to one side a few weeks later as I have either lost my way or Ive got a new note book with a NEW idea!!! Dark chocolate ice cream sounds like heaven.

I'm with you on stripy Pukka Pads. I get a little tingle of excitement when I open mine. I use blue for home and pink ones at work.

If I had more time I'd tell you a story about Lucy (who I work with) and the Peterborough Passport Office. In a nutshell, passport office staff (a) have had their sense of humour surgically removed; (b)get a sort of perverse pleasure from sending someone on a 40 mile round trip to get her husband to sign another form when the signature was microscopically just touching the outside of the box in one place; and (c) were almost cited in the ensuing divorce papers (only joking - they made it up ... eventually.)

andrea - you're most probably right. Maybe that's how they deal with all their complainants by giving them all the rubbish no one else wants. I also worry about losing my notepads, the fact that I'm always forgetting where I've written something is also a problem.

motherx - yes, so many of my notepads have pages at the beginning, then some in the middle and also some at the back all filled with notes or excerpts of my next novel. The pages in between are usually blank or have doodles on them???

annieye - that made me laugh, although when I went to the Passport Office again today and a different girl dealt with me I did have to take a deep breath when she said he needed to scan the picture to see if it was acceptable - thankfully for all concerned it was.

anonymous - thanks so much for locating my blog and for saying that you enjoyed reading it. It's always lovely to hear that someone liked my ramblings.

Much as I love notebooks (and it's a really big love) I'm beginning to think a 'one pad fit's all' notebook could have its uses. Trouble is choosing the notebook:-)

Banoffi is just the best. He probably thought he was doing yo a favour, bringing 'exotic' flavours:-)

lane - and what it you lost it? I bought a half sized Pukka Pad today, so exciting.

I think you're probably right about the ice-cream. The poor man didn't have much of a welcome either with Grumpy barking at him incessantly.
